A student at an Orlando area high school was reprimanded by a teacher after he raised questions about Obama campaign volunteers who were recruiting students in his Advanced Placement history class, according to the 16-year-old’s father.

The incident allegedly occurred at Wekiva High School in Orange County, Fla. A parent told Fox News that volunteers for the Obama campaign were invited to make a presentation to students in multiple classes at the school. A week later, another campaign staffer visited a class and told the students to tell their parents to “vote for Obama.”

The students were also given applications to join the “Obama Organizing Fellowship” – a 12-week program connected to the Florida Democratic party.

According to Orange County School policy, personal appearances by candidates or their advocates are not allowed – “unless part of an approved course of study and presented in a responsible manner, and unless equal opportunity is afford to all candidates in a particular race and representatives of both sides of an issue.”

School policy also  prohibits the “distribution of campaign material, including cards, brochures and other materials defined by law as political advertising to students or other employees.”

A spokesperson for the school district disputed the parent’s account of what happened. The spokesperson said a former graduate of the school was invited to speak to students about the importance of volunteering – not voting for President Obama.

After her remarks, the speaker laid down a card and a sign-up for Organizing For America. The spokesperson said it happened as the class was being dismissed so it’s unclear how many students signed up.

The district said there was a separate occasion when a former student came to the school and encouraged students to register to vote. The speaker was allowed ten minutes in government classes to speak with students of voting age. The district stressed that the person did not promote any political party

“What concerns me the most is that future generations of Americans are immersed in progressive propaganda for seven hours a day, every day until they graduate college with very few opposing viewpoints being offered as a counter argument,” said a concerned parent who contacted Fox News.

The parent, who asked not to be identified, said his son was the student who raised questions in the AP history class. After they had finished their presentation, the Democrats asked if there were any questions. The boy raised his hand and asked, “Does the name Frank Marshall Davis mean anything to either of you?”

The teacher pulled the student aside and reprimanded him – telling him to never ask a question like that again. The teacher reportedly told the student to immediately leave the classroom.

“I couldn’t believe that he was asked to leave for simply asking a question,” the boy’s father told Fox News. “The campaign workers are adults. Let them answer.”

The parent said his son was not punished beyond being asked to leave the classroom and the teacher made no effort to alert the administration. He decided to speak out in light of allegations that Obama volunteers have been making similar visits to schools across Florida. Click here to read “School Lets Democrats Register Students, But Not Republicans.”

“My son will not stop asking questions because I work very hard to undo the indoctrination to which he is subjected day after day,” the father said. “I arm him with the facts and let him draw his own conclusions.”

The parent said there was something about the Frank Marshall Davis question that seemed to strike a nerve with the teacher.

Paul Kengor, the author of “The Communist,” knows all about Frank Marshall Davis and his connections to President Obama.

“That student asked a totally legitimate question,” Kengor told Fox News. “Barack Obama himself, after all, is the one responsible for bringing Frank Marshall Davis to our attention. He refers to Frank Marshall Davis literally dozens of times in his bestselling memoirs, ‘Dreams from My Father’. Yet never once in the entire book does Obama dare to divulge Davis’s full identity.”

Kengor said Davis was a card-carrying member of the Communist Party and who was a mentor to Obama throughout his adolescence.

“This literal communist had a significant influence on the development of the current leader of America and the free world,” Kengor said. Thus, this student asked a crucial, insightful, informed question – clearly based on his own reading and research.”

Kengor said the student’s question was historically relevant and wondered if he was enrolled in a history course or a course on liberal politics.

“Liberals – including liberal educators – preach open-mindedness, tolerance and diversity, but that’s all a giant ruse,” Kengor said. “In truth, they are only open to and tolerant of views they agree with. It happens all the time: the moment that a student dares to ask a challenging question that a liberal educator doesn’t like, the student is scolded and silenced.”

Kengor said he hopes the school would give Romney volunteers or local Republicans a chance to speak to the classes.

“If not, then this is not education, but liberal indoctrination,” he said.

The parent said his son asked that question. He said the teacher told him that she would have to see if they had time in their class schedule.

“I think the teacher missed a valuable teaching opportunity here,” the parent said. “She could have invited both the Republican and Democratic campaigns in and had them present on what it’s like to work for a political campaign.”

Instead, he said the students got a small seminar on how to endorse and support a single candidate.

When my daughters were in school, I spent a great deal of time stressing the point that our great country is a Republic, not a Democracy. As such, the God-given unalienable rights of the minority are constitutionally protected. This concept seems to be lost amongst the electorate these days.

    • "God" didn't give human beings unalienable rights … believing in this is based on Faith not fact, so if there is no god, then these rights don't exist.
It makes more sense and is better to know that simply as human beings we are each empowered with the right to life, the right to be free and the right to pursue happiness. Along with these are the right to believe or not believe in any particular religion, to free speech, to provide for our own self-defense, and the basic right of privacy – whether or not any of these rights are codified by government (which after all belongs to all of us).

  3. Obama's "priority" for education is nothing more than a priority for INDOCTRINATION.

    • "Education" has left the building. Obama's claim to making education a "priority" (still) is euphemism for "indoctrination" with the assistance of the UNIONS.

Obama's indoctrination is still a better education than the abstinence only sex ed and creationism taught in many schools. The leaders of this country walk around saying things like "legitimate rape can't cause a pregnancy" and that the Earth is 9,000 years old and created in literally six days and somehow it's Obama's fault? These are adults we're talking about, not impressionable children. They were "educated" well before Obama had any say in what they were taught.

Tangent: The fact so many think public education is indoctrination, but church isn't is laughable.

  4. Warren.. You are exactly right. Parents of the next generation need to protect their children from the radical left wing propagandists. our children are under attack by this political group and we need to make certain that these kids are protected.. Stand up parents PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN!

  7. Just goes to show you the one-sided argument that the liberals want to create. The church used to indoctrinate, but now it is the schools indoctrinate in a different direction!

    • Churches still indoctrinate nothing has changed on that front. There are certainly too many liberal whack jobs in the school system and the union protection of them is ridiculous.

What does THAT mean? Not the last part. C'mon what is this garbage?
"Churches still indoctrinate nothing has changed on that front.". Be consistent. Don't "Christian bash" and then use the term "liberal whack job" in the same conversation. What an idiot.

    • So if you think Church's indoctrinate young people you cannot also think their are liberal whack jobs? You have to be so biased as to not recognize both types of people exist? What an idiot yourself.

    • Attendance at Church/Religious indoctrination is VOLUNTARY, while attendance at Secondary Public Schools is required by government. Both exist….and they are not mutually exclusive.

  9. Please, will everyone google or youtube "THE HISTORY OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS" Watch it, all of it! Read it, all of it! Learn it, all of it! Then teach your kids what to watch for in school to know when they're being overtly or covertly indoctrinated. Get involved in you community, school boards, run for office, etc. If we as parents don't stop them, WE WILL LOSE OUR KIDS!

    • David, I think you're correct. Unfortunately, the all too well known and documented failure of our schools systems remains neglected to a point, but has become a MEANS or VEHICLE by which to accomplish a political rather than educational agenda (not to get caught up with cliches), and to that extent is engaged with. However, despite the longstanding awareness of the ineptitude of the system and the MULTITUDE of "promises" to somehow "reform" it and make it what it once was, has become similar to the committee of medical "experts" concurring with the diagnosis of treatable cancer, yet failing to act on the known diagnosis and implementing meaningful and effective treatment to address the problem. Reform will only come from a grassroots level(involvement as you well stated) where THE PEOPLE mobilize and reject the status quo and passivity of those institutions and officials entrusted with the authority to move on such matters, but who have failed to do so. In addition, the process starts at HOME where a groundswell of them will take a stand, even against opposing forces and ideas, and re-establish the appropriate EXPECTATIONS of our children and all with whom we engage, settling for NOTHING LESS. i think many people around the country are just waiting for just such a movement to be sparked before they too become ENGAGED.

Hmm in Germany citizens were not allowed to question or criticize Hitler – if you did you simply disappeared (died) so history is repeating itself. While Liberals think this is OK to indoctrinate children and young adults – they would scream holy hell if Republicans did anything close to that. There is more danger to freedom in this ADMINISTRATION then in all the history of this Country. God help us all!

    • Well, if Liberals believe that they are always correct, then it is obvious that disagreeing with them is wrong. They can't help themselves … it simply comes down to "If you're not with us, you're against us!" Remember when Bush43 said this about Islamic Terrorism? He stole the Libs line of thought and for this they could not forgive.

And in ALL OF EUROPE no one was allowed to question the Pope for hundreds of years. What's your point? Speaking of, Hitler fancied himself a Catholic. God help us indeed.

    • David DeSau /

Did you ever notice Billy that any criticism of Obama is blasted by the media and the Govt – as in we cannot criticize the Great Obama – teachers make their students write letters to Obama and say good things about him – happening all across the Country – pay attention..

    • David DeSau /

Billy Massey – if you questioned the Pope you weren't taken out and killed- like they did with Hitler !

    • Billy Massey /

To your first reply: No, I haven't noticed. And it's because that's factually incorrect. This website and plenty of people constantly bash Obama. It's everywhere.

As for your second reply: You were just excommunicated or thrown in prison until you died. The Reducto ad Hitlerum argument is kinda sad, don't you think?

  12. Anthony De Rubeis /

There is no need to reiterate the obvious regarding our educational system and how it has deteriorated under progressive "stewardship" over the last several decades but put bluntly, this teacher and the involved administrators must be fired immediately and without discussion since their attitudes, methods and actions prove their incompetence.

Posing an interrogative to the guests about Frank Marshall Davis isn't out of line in the least, but is a valid question, yet it sounds like a no-no to this school given the the type of guests that were present. Yes, the presence of Obama drones in this government run and taxpayer funded school of indoctrination amounts to nothing more but recruitment of future Obama youts for the cause.

  16. David DeSau /

the comparison "Hitler Youth"- "Obama Youth" too scary to even imagine..

    • Billy Massey /

And it should be. If your feeble mind draws a correlation then that is definitely terrifying.

    • David DeSau /

Billy – you have been drinking the kool-aid again haven't you ? You obama zealots are what is terrifying – we are here to take back our Country from the Commies and other bottom feeders Billy – so naturally we don't care for Commie lovers who think the USA should be the United Socialist States of America !

    • Billy Massey /

I'm not an Obama anything, but I'm definitely not some backwards social conservative who thinks a liberal (he's not even THAT liberal) democrat president is somehow the same as a fascist dictator who wanted to rid the world of the Jews.

Also, you are a moron. Communism =/= socialism. Obama =/= Khrushchev. We are not in the Cold War anymore, old man. Stop having flashbacks.

Billy – you sir are the moron – thinking that Obama's Socialist upbringing is ok – his ideas are no different than the USSR – which is really only a different name for the same system (Russia) . Obama is so far left he almost comes back on himself and you Billy are just an idiot ! So as just another kool-aid drinking moron you seem to forget history – history always repeats itself- unless of course in the world of liberal schmucks! And if you notice – Obama has not shown the Jews any semblance of being on their side – he would rather support the muslim brotherhood than stand by Israel ! Communism and Fascists have the same idea- make religion a crutch of the misguided – freedom of speech is only free and appreciated as long as the special interests like the message- gun control takes firearms from the masses – thus making them subjects of the person in power – capitalism is viewed as wrong – re-disturbation of wealth is a mainstay of Communism – the poor are praised – while the rich are berated as scum to be pitied. See any similarities ?? No ?? I see plenty and oh and the collective – universal health care- death panels – reducing the military to make us more likely to be attacked by our enemies as they view us as weak.. So Billy continue to call us names – when deep down you know we are right and you are just a pawn of the Commies ! When they come for you Billy – make sure you tell them you are a liberal – I'm sure they will cut you some slack !

Are you even aware that there are other countries out there that already have policies similar to Obama's in place? That these same countries are some of the happiest, healthiest, and most productive countries on Earth? You are a fear monger who has his head stuck firmly in the sand.

    • David DeSau /

Billy Massey Oh before I forget – Obama is a self admitted Socialist -who advocates Government ownership of corporations ( GM) – redistribution of wealth-and ruling by decree ( Executive Orders) .. so get stuffed Billy !

    • Billy Massey /

Socialism =/= Communism. If it weren't for the government's intervention GM wouldn't exist. Your "redistribution" of wealth is taxes and social programs. Executive Orders are within the purview of the Office of the President.

  17. This is absurd! Going to the classroom of students to stump for the election. This never happened when I went to school. Obama is getting desperate to win, and with what I see in his deceitfulness, he is underhanded and will not let any stone unturned. Soros's tallying organization in Spain, free cell phones, dead people still on the rolls, people voting twice in different states, busing in people from the outskirts of towns, the list goes on. Obama must be defeated or America will cease to exist as we now know it.

  18. Cynthia Colegrove /

This is why it is important to be involved. The teachers don't always like it but it is your responsibility. If you can't, maybe a grandparent. Ask to survey the class and sit in unexpectantly. Go to the ptc meetings and make sure you know who's coming to the school and be there to listen to what they say. We should never be too busy to protect our children.

  19. Morgan Greer /

As an educator myself (and yes, I do teach history) – I told my students that they need to look at politics for themselves and not always believe what they hear. One of my students then asked "does that mean we shouldn't believe what the media tells us?" and I responded by saying — just be careful what you believe and research for yourselves. And these are 8th graders I'm teaching.

    • 'Just be careful what you believe' – Not sure that this is a proper response … In this context what does 'careful' actually mean? It would be better to teach them how to evaluate campaign statements by comparing statements from both sides with the actual facts so they can make up their own minds.

  20. I note that this entire story is based upon the statements of one parent and one student. There were potentially over a hundred students who were exposed to this. So where is the collaboration of the parents story? The only thing that is collaborated is that someone came into the classrooms. Outside of that one fact, the rest is unsubstantiated and collaborated.
Once upon a time we insisted upon more then an accusation before pronouncing guilt. I guess those days are gone.

  21. Kimmy Martin /

Why take a free state and make it into a communist country…if you like communism so much then go some where else to be told what to do , where to live , how to et and leave us alone.

  22. Schritter Brenda /

Warren is absolutely correct. INDOCTRINATION. This has gone on for many years now in our schools, and we have been asleep.
