UPDATE:
The superintendent of Bellingham Public Schools released a statement Wednesday stating that students will now be allowed to sing or not sing “God Bless the USA” during an upcoming assembly at Stall Brook Elementary School.
“Political correctness is certainly a consideration in the public sector,” Superintendent Edward Fleury wrote in a statement posted on the district’s website.
“Students will be allowed to sing or not sing the words ‘God Bless the USA’ as they sing in celebration of their acquired knowledge,” he said. “No other words will be substituted.”
Fleury said there was no intent to be disrespectful and “we believe the use of the word god is acceptable in patriotic songs.”
Following is the full statement:
“Political correctness is certainly a consideration in the public sector. There are traditional parts of our culture that are sacred, and we certainly had no intent to disrespect any part of that culture. The intent of the planned event is to celebrate the knowledge gained by fourth grade students studying the 50 states in a school event with their parents next week. The students will be singing two songs at the assembly. One will be a song about the 50 states, and the other will be “God Bless the USA.” Students will be allowed to sing or not sing the words “God Bless the USA” as they sing in celebration of their acquired knowledge. No other words will be substituted. We believe the use of the word God is acceptable in patriotic songs. The district has no intent to censor any patriotic songs. We are certainly sorry if this approach was perhaps considered as disrespectful. That was never the intent.”
The original story is posted below:
Parents at a Massachusetts elementary school are furious after educators first removed the word ‘God’ from the popular Lee Greenwood song, “God Bless the U.S.A.” and then pulled the song all together from an upcoming concert.
Fox 25 in Boston is reporting that children at Stall Brook Elementary School in Bellingham were told to sing, “We love the U.S.A.” instead of “God Bless the U.S.A.”
After parents started complaining, school officials removed the song from the school assembly concert. The school’s principal released a statement to Fox 25 stating they hope to ”maintain the focus on the original objective of sharing students’ knowledge of the U.S. States, and because of logistics, will not include any songs.”
Greenwood released a statement to Fox News condemning the school’s actions.
“The most important word in the whole piece of music is the word God, which is also in the title ‘God Bless The USA,” Greenwood said. “Maybe the school should have asked the parents their thoughts before changing the lyrics to the song. They could have even asked the writer of the song, which I of course, would have said you can’t change the lyrics at all or any part of the song.”

Greenwood said the phrase “God Bless the USA” has a “very important meaning for those in the military and their families, as well as new citizens coming into our country.” He said it’s also played at every naturalization ceremony behind the national anthem.
“If the song is good enough to be played and performed in its original setting under those circumstances, it surely should be good enough for our children,” Greenwood said.
An online poll taken by the television station indicated more than 80 percent of viewers were outraged by removing God from the song.
“I don’t have a problem with the song if somebody else does I guess it’s there business,” resident Patrick Grudier said. “I mean It’s on our currency (God).”
But not everyone agreed – including parent Matthew Cote.
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with changing the song,” he told the television. “It’s a public school. If you want to have the word God in the song, go to a private school.”
Reaction on Facebook has been overwhelmingly in favor of the traditional patriotic song.
“Here we go again, more war on Christianity,” wrote one Facebook user. “You can remove God all you want, but the good news — there is still a loving God and He lives.”
Another Facebook user called it sad and disgusting. “I’d like to say unbelievable — but it is so totally believable.”
LEE GREENWOOD’S STATEMENT TO TODD STARNES
“Maybe the school should have asked the parents their thoughts before changing the lyrics to the song. They could have even asked the writer of the song, which I of course would have said you can’t change the lyrics at all or any part of the song. The most important word in the whole piece of music is the word God, which is also in the title God Bless The USA. We can’t take God out of the song, we can’t take God out of The Pledge of Allegiance, we can’t take God off of the American currency. Let us also remember, the phrase God Bless the USA has a very important meaning for those in the military and their families, as well as new citizens coming to our Country. The song is played at every naturalization ceremony behind The National Anthem. If the song is good enough to played and performed in its original setting under those circumstances, it surely should be good enough for our children.” – Lee Greenwood

Just WHO is establishing this mandate and other mandates that demand that we take God, (creator of all things made and creator of all mankind), JESUS (who is our only way to Heaven) and all things "religious" from our nation, schools, parades, you name it? Is it because our Creator might OFFEND someone who is in such a minority yet they wish to control things. WELL I am OFFENDED by their demands and anything else that impinges on my freedoms as GUARANTEED by our First Ammendment to our Constitution which is THE LAW of this Land. People, be you atheist, homosexual, agnostic, transgender, or whatever you choose….go and live YOUR life. Just leave our schools, churches, families, children, et al live theirs. I do pray for God's guidance for you. Oh yeah, I started out by asking WHO is trying to set these demands on us? I am guessing it might be President Obama's School Czar or his "Diversity" Czar or his " Regulatory Czar or any (or ALL) 0f his appointed "ADVISORS without Congress's input or Vetting? Wake up America! And God bless Everyone!
Actually, it's the 'Constitution'… have you heard of it?
As I read the comments about the school wanting to omit the word" God "from the song, I wish Mr. Greenwood would send a stern piece of correspondence to our City Fathers–giving them "wake-up-call" as to why they do allow the Pledge of Allegaince to be recited at the opening of the regular City Council meetings. They they do allow the invocation, of which sincerely appreciated!
First of all, any person that doesn't believe in science or the theory of evolution needs to stop using all modern forms of technology like cell phones and computers. You also need to stop going to hospitals where modern medicine is practiced because it is also a product of science. There is a separation of church and state for a reason. If the government chose to support one religious belief over the others that would be unfair to all the people that don't follow your form of religion. What if the government chose the Hindu belief system instead of Christianity, you all would be protesting the fact that they are teaching Hinduism is schools. See the hypocrisy there?
Further more the word god that you all are so upset about being removed was not originally on most of the things it is being removed from. For instance the words under god in the pledge of allegiance were not part of it until 1954. Religion has nothing to do with government and the education process for a reason, because it is destructive and exclusionary.
There is a reason that we call it the theory of evolution and not the hypothesis of evolution. It is called the theory of evolution because we have tested it thousands of times and the answer that comes back further proves it to be correct. It stays a theory because new information can be found and as soon as the new information is found they can update it. That is why it is the theory of evolution. Creationism on the other hand is a un disprovable hypothesis because no tests have ever been done to test the validity of the hypothesis and no test can ever be done because it is not based in fact.
Science is looking for the answers saying I don't know but I know how I can find out.
Religion claims to have all the answers and is proven wrong by science.
I don't believe in hell so telling me to go there is pointless.
Brian, help us lesser beings out here. Would you please explain the difference between a "law," as in the Law of Gravity, and a "theory," as in Theory of Evolution. And please, explain it kindly, in non-condenscending terms, and in words that any of us inferior to your intellect might understand. Then, please, explain why evolution is still a "theory." I'm grateful for the insight.Oh, and while you're at it, can you give us any examples of "all" this evolution that is still continuing on today, as must have been easily evidenced after thousands of years of human observation. And remember, don't include the adaptations that occur over and over within a species, butwithout changing a species. And of course, you wouldn't include the mutations that we observe in microorganisms. Those are not "evolutionary" events, as I'm sure a superior intellect as yours is already aware.
Again, thank you for your help.
Kurt Smith, Hypothesis
A hypothesis is an educated guess, based on observation. Usually, a hypothesis can be supported or refuted through experimentation or more observation. A hypothesis can be disproven, but not proven to be true.
Example: If you see no difference in the cleaning ability of various laundry detergents, you might hypothesize that cleaning effectiveness is not affected by which detergent you use. You can see this hypothesis can be disproven if a stain is removed by one detergent and not another. On the other hand, you cannot prove the hypothesis. Even if you never see a difference in the cleanliness of your clothes after trying a thousand detergents, there might be one you haven't tried that could be different.
Theory
A scientific theory summarizes a hypothesis or group of hypotheses that have been supported with repeated testing. A theory is valid as long as there is no evidence to dispute it. Therefore, theories can be disproven. Basically, if evidence accumulates to support a hypothesis, then the hypothesis can become accepted as a good explanation of a phenomenon. One definition of a theory is to say it's an accepted hypothesis.
Example: It is known that on June 30, 1908 in Tunguska, Siberia, there was an explosion equivalent to the detonation of about 15 million tons of TNT. Many hypotheses have been proposed for what caused the explosion. It is theorized that the explosion was caused by a natural extraterrestrial phenomenon, and was not caused by man. Is this theory a fact? No. The event is a recorded fact. Is this this theory generally accepted to be true, based on evidence to-date? Yes. Can this theory be shown to be false and be discarded? Yes.
Law
A law generalizes a body of observations. At the time it is made, no exceptions have been found to a law. Scientific laws explain things, but they do not describe them. One way to tell a law and a theory apart is to ask if the description gives you a means to explain 'why'.
Example: Consider Newton's Law of Gravity. Newton could use this law to predict the behavior of a dropped object, but he couldn't explain why it happened.
As you can see, there is no 'proof' or absolute 'truth' in science. The closest we get are facts, which are indisputable observations. Note, however, if you define proof as arriving at a logical conclusion, based on the evidence, then there is 'proof' in science. I work under the definition that to prove something implies it can never be wrong, which is different. If you're asked to define hypothesis, theory, and law, keep in mind the definitions of proof and of these words can vary slightly depending on the scientific discipline. What is important is to realize they don't all mean the same thing and cannot be used interchangeably.

This is PC BS. What happened to majority rules? If we continue in this direction, there will be a majority of unhappy, angry people.
In America, the 'majority' of people are overweight and the majority of adults can't read above the 4th grade level….
Maybe you want to be 'ruled' by fat, stupid people, but I don't….
America is not a democracy where 51% or more of the population get to have their way over the rest. It's a constitutional republic.

Gary Welch, there is a separation of church and state in America Gary, which protects your religion from the state and me from being burned at the stake by you.
I believe the greatest monument to this nation's ignorance is the fact that we never made the connection between turning farther from God – as we accelerate His removal from our schools and public institutions, as we attack and ridicule Him and His Christian followers – and the nation's sliding deeper and faster into a cesspool of misery, hatred, greed, immorality and corruption. It's so simple, and they just don't get it.
god – a non existent boogeyman in sky who wishes bad things on those who refuse to be conned. can't imagine it has spanned the biggest industry in america that results in china eating our lunch.
It's incredible that we all are even having this conversation. Really? Folks like that are just afraid of God! And they should be!
No, we don't believe in hocus pocus.
Shout it from the rooftop, Jesus is Lord!!!!
Mark Douglas. so long as you shout it from your own rooftop!
Tim: You have the choice to believe in whatever you choose, as do I. But don't you think it strange that some folks are so threatened when it come to "God", or anything that might relate to God, i.e His name in a song, a book, a poster, etc.. Why do you suppose that is?
LaChelle Lancto Koester, because we all know it's true but just want to sin? But seriously, I have no qualms about the word god in a song, but that’s not say any of the parents don’t. Schools are forbidden from coercing students to participate in any particular religious activity what-so-ever under separation of church and state. Moreover, I don’t like Christianity, or any religion, for all the harm it causes. Furthermore, in life, we shouldn’t believe things for which there is absolutely no evidence for, even when threatened with hellfire by a so-called loving god for simply not believing.
It's God bless America you FLUKE.ing id iots.
God save us from fools and liberals………….
It used to be that the approach of schools with regard to incorporating any aspect of religion into school activities was to incorporate that which was good from ALLl of the faiths. E.g. during the Christmas holidays the musical presentations would present songs extracted from Christmas, Hannukah, Kwansa, etc. It is a VERY IMPORTANT CHANGE that now they are pressured to remove ALL references to any faith. This change goes from teaching acceptance and the fact that good can be found in all members of a diverse culture to teaching that diversity is such an uncomfortable and "hot" issue that we cannot even attempt to celebrate the best of each other's culture. A profoundly unfortunate change that affects our kids and flys under the banner of "political correctness".
What is so surprising about any of this. After all this is the Peoples' Republic of Massachusetts. I thought they were no longer part of us.
OK, look, I'm the last person on the planet to cut the politically correct thought police a break, and I don't know who this Todd Starnes guy is, but Starnes certainly has butchered the facts in the headline to this article. So, as with everything else, everyone gather up your panties, unwad them and go back and re-read the Superintendent's statement. I'll wait. Back? Good. Notice that the Superintendent did not remove the word "God" from the song. What the Superintendent said was that when singing the song, students could choose for themselves whether to say/sing the word "God" or not. They could either sing it or keep silent over those notes of the song. The students were not allowed to replace the word "God" with anything else, like Darwin or Wicca-dicka or what ever. Sing the word "God" or sing nothing, your choice. And we all like choice, right? I mean isn't choice practically synonymous with freedom? And what the heck is wrong with a bit of freedom?
So, the Superintendent gets from me a huge atta-boy and this Todd Starnes mutt gets a huge Pinocchio with a big red cherry on top.
Mutt-city, Todd. Mutt-city.
Oh, and Todd Starnes? Well. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/assets_c/2012/01/Todd-Starnes-Fox-Resized-cropped-proto-custom_28.jpg
Dude, I'm just saying…
The school system has their head up their a–. We have freedom of speech in America. This song has been around for a long time here in the USA, and should remain exactly as written. Our good old American values are changing, and I think, not in the right direction… KEEP THE SONG AS WRITTEN!
I'm glad they took the word out and that is freedom of speech!
Freedom of speech to me means "KEEP THE WORD IN!"
No, it's not a Church or a Temple they are Schools. The word (God), belongs in those places, not in Schools. No more religion in Public Schools. Freedom of Speech means just that, you have the right and I have the right and so does the other Americans and that is FREEDOM OF SPEECH! Manly
Liberalism is a mental disorder……………. GOD bless America!
what a nanny state we are turning into..if things keep going like they are, it wont be long before the USA will be just another 3rd world regime…better wake up people..
It's tax-a-fucking-chusetts, what do you expect? Another Godless blue state. Political correctness has DESTROYED OUR COUNTRY. NOWHERE in our Constitution is there a right NOT TO BE OFFENDED.

Sadly this is not really about God, it is about the freedom. Because you believe one thing does not give you the right to say everything else is wrong. If it offends you, don't look. However if it offends the majority then please take it private. And God just happens to have the majority vote, regardless of your religion. You can't hide God from children of people who do not believe in God, so if that is your path instruct them. Teach them your belief[or non-belief] and tell them to be silent and respectful of those who choose to pray. That is the key, if more would teach respect and them self learn some we would not have to have this debate…TRI.

Missing the point…….. First its take the word God out of a song. Next it's take the word America out of a song. Where does it stop? Because someone doesn't like a certain word doesn't mean everyone else thinks the same thing. Never had a problem when I was a kid having to say the word god in a song at school.
Amen again!

Truly a Liberal dilemma…. I guess they say "OH BARACK"!!!! Or, they could do the Reverend Wright version and Say GOD DAMN The USA… Has a catchy ring to it..
I am amazed that the Schoold District in their written response stated "“Political correctness is certainly a consideration in the public sector……" That implies they think they are being politically correct in allowing the song. Seems to me they were trying to be politically correct in trying to remove the song or change it. How dare they! Seems they need a new School District Superindentdant, perhaps a veteran!
They are afraid to stand.
Every person was born with a God conscience and a void that only God can fill-even you Shelly Dobner were born with these- your God conscience tells you or it convicts you when you do or are about to do something wrong- but if you continually go against it and do the thing you know is wrong you desensitize your conscience or make it more and more numb to that feeling that bothers you-that feeling of guilt, or a feeling of a heavy heart because you know you went against your God conscience. Such as when you tell a lie you know it is wrong and there is that small voice that tells you go ahead and do it and then there is that other voice that tells you don't do it and if you give in and lie you feel bad afterwards-but after you give in over and over after a while it becomes easier and easier until it no longer bothers you. Our society is teaching our kids to desensitize that God conscience-do what makes you feel good, what is right for me "Its all about me"and never considering the consequences of choices. Our kids have grown up in a society where there is no respect for each other, no respect for life unless of course it is an animals, and you can have whatever you want even if it belongs to someone else-just take it, as I said it is the ME generation -give me give me give me. What is wrong with our kids learning the Ten Commandments-Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors property, Thou shalt not lie, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Honour your father and mother, Remember the Sabbath day and to keep it holy, You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, YOu shall not make for yourself graven images, You shall have no other Gods before me…….and the golden rule"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" These commandments harm no one…they are the building blocks of morality-what right and wrong are – Morality seems to be lacking this day and time, and is at an all time low. Prayer was taken out of school in 1962 – and since then there has been every attempt to remove God from everything-and with the removal of God-, then the moral compass is gone……If you don't believe that , then read the statistics from 1962 to now -on murder-especially in public schools has gone up, divorce rate has gone up, stealing and assault have increased, rape is at an all time high , and our national testing scores have gone down. All I have to say is GOD HELP US! If my children and my grandchilden have ever needed hope it is this day and time and God is our only hope.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…." Hmmmm…. that says there can be NO LAW made to establish a religion….it says absolutely NOTHING about public school singing or not singing song with the word "God" in it! However, it does also say that Congress cannot prohibit the FREE exercise of religion…so if our kids want to sing about God, praise God, pray to God, read their Bibles AT SCHOOL, or even lead other students TO JESUS CHRIST AT SCHOOL…. or ANYWHERE….. no one has the power to prohibit it in this country if even Congress cannot! That whole "separation" of church and state has been the most misquoted and misunderstood amendment in the entire constitution! It was added to prevent the government from shunning/banning religion and has accomplished exactly the opposite when it comes to Christianity or the name of Jesus. Public establishments bend over backwards to not offend Muslims, yet they don't think twice about offending Christians! —all in the name of "separation of church and state?" READ the constitution people!
Did you even read what you wrote?! "…no law respecting an establishment of religion…". Go look up "respecting" in the dictionary. To have public schools teach Christianity, and not spend *equal* time on Atheism, Wicca, Islam, etc is putting them on a higher pedestal than the other religions, thus "respecting" them more than the others. Go learn about our founding fathers, the Big Three–Jefferson, Washington, and Franklin were not even remotely christian–they did not believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ (a prerequisite, is it not?)
Daniel Mey No. You go look up "law" – then revisit the First Amendment again. Since our government cannot establish a religion nor force anyone to abide by one is a protection for the people over tyranny. However, (assuming you can read), it also provides the freedom to worship as we please. This public school did nothing to support a or any religion, they simply intended to sing a patriotic song. Perhaps you can tell everyone exactly which religion they were "preaching" and what government indoctrination took place.
Daniel Mey Apparently you have issues with reading comprehension. Last time I checked, "Congress" did not refer to a public school and the amendment was made to protect people of all religions from being told by our LEGISLATORS that they HAD to practice a particular religion whether they liked it or not…which is why the first settlers came here…to get away from tyranny! Now we are coming under the tyranny of being marginalized and forbidden to say the word "Jesus" or even "God" in public and that is exactly the opposite of the intention of the amendment! Study your history! We are entitled to freedom OF religion and as long as CONGRESS is not FORCING others into a religion the way atheists are trying to force us into non-religion, then all will be fine! It is the atheists, for the most part, who have overstepped their bounds (they think they have no bounds)!
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…." I have been saying this for a long time now. Since God got kicked out of the public schools back in the 1960's. God forbid we have prayer or read out of the Bible. Now we have school shootings, drugs and teen girls getting pregnant. We have the occult running rampet, homosexuals and pedophiles ruining our kids and abortion. If it isn't too late we as a nation need to get on our knee's and pray for God to save our country before it is to late. This country sins have surpassed Sodom and Gommorah. I beleive God is trying to get our attention. But to few are paying attention. Judgement is coming.
Bible thumping doesn't work. Teen pregnancy and violence are highest in the Bible belt.

John Buchanan, sorry I'll quit arguing with facts. I'll either make stuff up or reference a bronze age document full of stories about a bloodthirsty, egotistical God. That seems to be the standard of evidence here.
Stop blowing this out of context. The song is not banned. Students have a choice to sing or not sing. That's the beauty of a country that celebrates religious freedom. This isn't a war on religion. You are confusing a war on religion with not getting your way.

Those that deny God will ultimately be denied by God. If they are ashamed of God, God will be ashamed of them. Small minds think little thoughts. Great minds have consideration for the entire nation.
How did it come to this? The stupidity of so called political correctness. I will forever say God Bless the USA and if you don't like it MOVE out of America.
Why is it always the Christians who say, "If you don't like what I say and believe, move out of America!"
I'm not a Christian, and I always have to apologize, defend myself, and explain myself to Christians who get "offended" and confrontational by my not believing in Jesus. NEVER ONCE did I say, "If you don't like my religion, get the hell out of America!" In public high school, when Christian students gave me Bibles DURING CLASS, I would politely smile and nod, say thank you, then leave the Bible in the library for someone else to take….because heck I didn't feel comfortable throwing a religious book in a garbage can.
I mean, by all rights I should have told those people to get out of America…they didn't like my religion right? But see, I'm not like THAT. Being offensive saying other people are the "problem", and saying they don't deserve to live in a country that me and my husband fought for, is a cop-out and giving yourself free license to basically be just like the rude people that never respected me or my faith.
If everyone is against censorship of 4 letter words and profane degenerate vocabulary at school and on the internet—because of freedom of speech concerns—-How come the word "God" has to be removed and freedom of speech is not granted to those who wish to use it? Guess the liberals want freedom of speech and also the right to deprive anyone of it that they wish.
The First Amendment as well as common sense were thrown out the window by this school district's decision to ban the correct singing of this song. Isn't it time we bad anti-American Communist idiots from holding public office? Start with these turds.
You know, I don't get it. They live here in the best country in the world and they're still not satisfied.
One thing I know I wouldn't want to depend on them for anything. They must be merserable people. Yuk!
The problem lies with us Christians. Our lifestyles, our attitude, our daily life doesn't reflect Christ. As somebody has said that some people will only read the Bible i.e. You. We Christians needs to have our acts together before we point fingers at others. IMPO God does not need our help, we need his help.
Anyone who thinks that atheists and agnostics are "the very small minority" need to move out of the woods in West Virginia. Sorry, justice and reason is growing, the world is no longer flat and witches don't really exist. And the person who claims that the right to complain only comes after serving in the military should have no voice.
Hey, don't hate on wv! It's not all bad and we aren't all crazy.
These anti God people are AFRAID of something but just won't admit it. Wonder what that could be? Could it be that they aren't really true non-believers?
No, it's being burnt at the stake by the likes of you, AGAIN!
Tim Gale I can tell by your tone what frightens people like you. Just the mention of God scares you, and justifiably so. May Almighty God bless and keep you!
Charles Halliburton, If I was to say to you that deep down you knew that Allah was going to get ya, how would that make you feel? Afraid? Of course not! People, all around the world, predominantly take on the beliefs of their parents and community. Sound familiar?
Tim Gale Not quite my man. My father and mother were what they were. I am something else entirely. One can, if he will be honest with himself, feel Almighty God deep in his soul. I feel empathy, as well as sympathy, for you. Again, may God bless and keep you and show you the light before it is too late!
Charles Halliburton, Thanks for your reply and I appreciate your chivalry. I don’t believe in god but I try and live a moral life, and mostly do. Am I going to hell for simply not believing? Would you save me if you could?
Tim Gale All I can do Tim is pray for you. The power of prayer; I watched, at the age of five, as the doctor explained to my mother that he could do nothing more for my brother, who was 12 years old, and that he would be dead within a matter of minutes. The doctor them left our home. My brother had already turned gray and his breathing was belabored. My mother begain to pray, asking God, that if it be His will, to please let Jim live. After approx. 20 minutes of fervent prayer, the color suddenly returned to Jims face, his breathing became relaxed and within a few short minutes he asked for something to eat. As I said, he was 12 years of age. He did die, SIXTY years later. I am not trying to convert you but merely relating a true story that I witnessed happening.
I will remember you in my prayers although I never learned to pray as my mother did that day.
Charles Halliburton, I’m sorry Charles but I don’t share your faith. Lab rats go into remission at the same rate as cancer patients that have been prayed for by loved ones, amputees don’t grow back limbs, and the sellers of snake oil are frauds and charlatans plying their trade at the expense of the credulous. Also, many families have faced the same life-and-death scenario that you and your family did that night, but, after praying fervently, their child died. Is this proof that god doesn’t exist? Moreover, if I don’t take you up on your offer, what happens to my eternal soul in the life hereafter? Despite trying and mostly succeeding in living a moral life, I’m supposed to believe that a so-called loving god will allow me to be tossed into a lake of fire for eternity for simply not believing, and all this without a lick of evidence and a mountain of evidence against it. This is not love but simply the antithesis of love. What a sick story that only men could have made up!
Tim Gale Well, I think it's obvious that neither of us is going to convince the other. Be that as it may, I have a question and if you choose to answer please be honest.
If I'm wrong, what do I have to lose? If you're wrong, what do you have to lose?
Charles Halliburton, Good question! What you are in fact talking about is Pascal’s Gambit which states: since the existence of God cannot be proved or disproved through reason, and there is much to be gained from wagering that God exists and little to be gained from wagering that God doesn’t exist, a rational person should simply wager that God exists and live accordingly. However, Pascal’s Gambit fails in that it assumes (1) there are only two options when there are more. What if we are both wrong about Allah or any one of the many, many other gods, and (2) if I simply pretend to believe, god won’t know the difference. Beliefs are not choices. I can’t choose to believe that I can fly and I can’t choose to believe that Krishna is the true god of mankind. Nor can I simply believe that a baby was conceived to a virgin over the possibility that a Jewish minx told a lie.

What a bunch of B_U_L_L_S_H_I_T! No wonder people are tired of throwing their money away supporting higher taxes for education. For what, so you children can learn this crap. Sounds to me like this Principal was caught off guard by the backlash of the parents and general public. It is too bad that everyone that was offended by this stupidity didn’t have the option to send their children to private schools or home school and leave those that support it where they are. The school is allocated dollars based on headcount. If I am not mistaken I read that 80% or more of the parents rejected the move by the school. It would tickle me to death to see them lose 80% of their funding for such moronic decisions. Let’s see what this genius would do in that situation.
