Texas Gov. Rick Perry has decided to address the big elephant in the pew – the Obama Administration’s relationship with religion – specifically Christianity.
“As president, I’ll end Obama’s war on religion,” Perry declared in a new television advertisement. “And I’ll fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage.”
Perry’s declaration immediately resonated with millions of Christians around the nation who believe their faith is under attack and who’ve been waiting for a Republican presidential candidate to have the candor and moral fortitude to stand up and articulate why we are truly the greatest nation on the face of the Earth.
“I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a Christian, but you don’t need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t openly celebrate or pray in school.”
President Obama declared early in his campaign for the White House that he is a Christian. We were led to believe that he was a supporter of the Purpose Driven teachings of California pastor Rick Warren. But it didn’t take long to discover that the only Sunday morning activity President Obama did on purpose was drive golf balls.
The evidence of religious attacks from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. are plentiful.
As a candidate, he declared in an email to CBN News that “whatever we once were, we’re no longer just a Christian nation.”
This is the same administration that invited Lady Gaga into the White House for an anti-bullying conference but banned Franklin Graham from the Pentagon’s National Day of Prayer observances.
It was during Obama’s Administration that Christian school children were ordered to stop praying outside the Supreme Court building because they were violating the law. Instead, those American boys and girls were forced to pray for the elected officials while standing in a gutter.
It was President Obama who dropped the words “by their Creator” when reciting a key excerpt from the Declaration of Independence to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus – not once, but twice.
It was the Obama Administration that opposed the commemoration of a prayer by Franklin Roosevelt at the site of the World War II Memorial on the Washington Mall, arguing that it would “dilute” the memorial’s central message.
And it was the Obama White House that asked Georgetown University to cover up all religious signs and symbols prior to a presidential address.
The Obama administration has used our military as a social engineering petri dish – pulling gay and lesbian soldiers out of the closet while pushing Christians back inside.
In recent days, we’ve learned that the Navy adopted and later rescinded a policy that would have banned parents from giving their wounded soldier-children Bibles at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
A Christian cross was removed from outside an Army chapel because it violated regulations. The Air Force Academy was forced to apologize for promoting Operation Christmas Child because it had ties to a Christian organization.
Critics, including many lawmakers, believe the Obama Administration is trying scrub Christianity from the military.
I’m glad that Gov. Perry raised the issue of religion. It’s a topic worthy of exploring merely for the fact that a leader’s conduct and decision-making will always be influenced by what he or she believes at the core. A nation deserves to know what they can expect.
“Bringing America back starts with faith,” Gov. Perry declared during a speech Wednesday to the Republican Jewish Coalition. “Faith in the Almighty, who created. Faith in our friends and allies, in a time of trouble, faith in each other to not give up hope.”
The Governor is absolutely correct.
The Old Testament provides our nation a very clear path to that city on the shining hill.
“If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” declares the Lord in 2 Chronicles 2:14.
But for now American Christians find our faith under attack by the government, marginalized in the mainstream media and ridiculed by Hollywood. And we are longing for the day when the Franklin Grahams of this nation will be welcomed back to the White House with the same zeal and fervor as Lady Gaga.

I think its great that Perry stands up for what HE believes in (and I believe in it as well), however I do not agree that he should be able to force everyone who lives in this great country of ours to believe in the same thing. This is FREE Nation because we allow everyone to have his or her own belief's, not whatever the elected official believes at the time.
I do not believe he is trying to make everyone a christian. What he is saying is that he would make it so that being a christian wasn't " Politically Incorrect ".

The building is not perceived as anything other than a house of worship for those of the islamic faith. And the whole "we aren't allowed to pray in school" is bogus, you do have that right. Thing is, the school cannot hold public prayers because they represent the state, the secular government cannot favor one religion over another. This is for everyone's protection. You can pray wherever you want, but you cannot force others to pray as you do. And you cannot discriminate against those of different beliefs and lifestyles. Its not a crime to be gay and I don't see anything in the constitution that forbids gays from serving in the military.

Cheryl Allen You say you think Jesus would understand your anger. Maybe but he wouldn't want you to use that anger to insult or hurt others. Maybe if you just distanced yourself from those who are inciting this anger you'd realize that Christianity is not really under attack. One of the few English TV channels I have where I live is Fox (we don't get any other US TV). I used to watch it every day–O'Reily, Beck, Sean etc. I opened my heart to these people (fully knowing that it was radical right-wing opinions). And I found that after about 3 months I was really grumpy and irritable. Frustrated and angry just like you. I stopped watching it and within days I felt much better. I would suggest reading the Treaty of Tripoli and the Supreme Court's interpretation of the Establishment Clause from Everson v Board of Education. Just because some revisionists added 'under god' to the pledge in 1954 in no way makes us a christian nation. We are a secular nation, a melting pot for all beliefs. Some of us don't believe in a god. Others believe in god's different than yours. The only way for things to be fair for everyone is keep the government neutral on matters of religion, which was one of the biggest reasons the founders of the United States went to war to declare independence. First of all, Lady Gaga is a much better person than Franklin Graham. Why presidents kneeled before the Grahams for 60 plus years, I have no idea. Franklin's father was a horrible anti-semite. Now, in terms of pushing Christian soldiers in to the closet while pulling gays out. What a load of drivel. Nobody is kicked out because they are a Christian. In fact, over 70% of the military describes itself as Christian. Gays though, if it came out they were gay, were indeed kicked out. Wasting millionis of dollars in taxpayer costs in the process. Gays have been kept out of the fighting in the Military because of the drop in morale their presence can cause, and because of AIDS. Who is going to protect them, resuscitate them when their blood could kill if they have AIDS? It's in their own best interest and protection that they have not been allowed on the battlefields. What military straight men want to shower, as men do in the military, with gays in the shower admiring them, being aroused? Are they going to give them their own restrooms on the battlefield? It's common sense. If they want to serve as clerks and office personnel, in non-combatant roles and give them seperate showers and restrooms, that's another thing.
