President Obama issued a September 11th proclamation calling on the nation to do community service.
With all due respect, Mr. President, today is not about picking up garbage.
It’s about remembering the dead. It’s about remembering how Islamic extremists flew jetliners into the twin towers and the Pentagon.
It’s about an airplane full of Americans who sacrificed their lives over Pennsylvania to spare more terror elsewhere.
But there was something else disturbing about President Obama’s proclamation. He failed to mention the word God.
Instead, he said we should mark today by remembering “our faith in one another.”
You do that, Mr. President – but not me.
I’m going to remember how Americans flocked to their houses of worship – how we prayed, how we sang the great hymns of our faith.
I’m going to remember how for a moment the nation took comfort – not in each other – but in the Almighty.
