President Obama’s proclamation marking the September 11th terrorist attacks did not include any mention of God. The president also failed to note how Americans sought solace in their religion in the aftermath of the Al-Qaeda attacks.

“But as we mark the anniversary of September 11, we remember what remains the same: our character as a nation, our faith in one another, and our legacy as a country strengthened by service and selflessness,” the president wrote.
Instead, the president called on Americans to participate in community service to honor those who were lost.
There was no specific mention of prayer but he did call for the nation to observe a moment of silence tomorrow morning.
The proclamation comes one week after Democrats meeting in Charlotte initially removed God from their party platform. The Almighty was subsequently reinstated after a questionable vote that led some delegates to boo the Lord.
Following is President Obama’s proclamation:
PATRIOT DAY AND NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND REMEMBRANCE, 2012
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION
On September 11, 2001, a bright autumn day was darkened by the worst attack on the American people in our history. Thousands of innocent men, women, and children perished when mighty towers collapsed in the heart of New York City and wreckage burned in Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon. They were family and friends, service members and first responders — and the tragedy of their loss left pain that will never fade and scars our country will never forget.
More than a decade later, the world we live in is forever changed. But as we mark the anniversary of September 11, we remember what remains the same: our character as a Nation, our faith in one another, and our legacy as a country strengthened by service and selflessness. In the spirit that moved rescue workers and firefighters to charge into darkness and danger that September morning, we see the same sense of moral responsibility that drove countless Americans to give of themselves in the months that followed. We offered our neighbors a hand and lined up to give blood. Many helped our Nation rebuild and recover long after the dust had settled, donating and volunteering and helping survivors who had borne so much. We were united, and the outpouring of generosity reminded us that, through challenges that have spanned from acts of terrorism to natural disasters, we go forward together as one peopleToday, as we remember the victims, their families, and the heroes who stood up during one of our country’s darkest moments, I invite all Americans to reclaim that abiding spirit of compassion by serving their communities in the days and weeks ahead. From volunteering with a faith-based organization, to collecting food and clothing for those in need, to preparing care packages for our men and women in uniform, there are many ways to bring service into our everyday lives — and each of us can do something. To get involved and find a local service opportunity, visit www.Serve.gov, or www.Servir.gov for Spanish speakers.
Even the simplest act of kindness can be a way to honor those we have lost, and to help build stronger communities and a more resilient Nation. By joining together on this solemn anniversary, let us show that America’s sense of common purpose need not be a fleeting moment, but a lasting virtue — not just on one day, but every day.
By a joint resolution approved December 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), the Congress has designated September 11 of each year as “Patriot Day,” and by Public Law 111-13, approved April 21, 2009, the Congress has requested the observance of September 11 as an annually recognized “National Day of Service and Remembrance.”
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2012, as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. I call upon all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the United States to display the flag of the United States at half-staff on Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. I invite the Governors of the United States and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and interested organizations and individuals to join in this observance. I call upon the people of the United States to participate in community service in honor of those our Nation lost, to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities, including remembrance services, and to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time to honor the innocent victims who perished as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this
tenth day of September, in the year of our Lord two thousand twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-seventh.
BARACK OBAMA

Lame Todd Starnes. Lame. Who cares? You have seriously fallen off the rocker.
Snore. Big deal, it is all-inclusive, as our government should be. It is also a fantastic call to help your country and community, which we should all be doing as we are able anyway. Leave the proclamations to the presidents, and the prayers to the preachers and individual families.
Keep your 'god' out of it. Religion is what started all this hate.
Oh nooooo, no mention of an imaginary space pixie, how awful. He only mentions honoring and remembering those who died and how people helped one another after the attacks and should continue to do so, this is just terrible.
Theres nothing terrible about it. That day, 911, saw many distraught and hurting people seeking solace and comfort through prayer in many churches across the country. There was a day of prayer for the dead and injured and their families as well as for the nation as a whole. Yes, that day was horrific, and in tragedies like this is when people come together in prayer. God may be a fairy to you, but so is your imperfect president.

Of course Obama didn't mention God since he doesn't believe in God. Obama is more of an Allah kind of man.
Harvey Atu And you are obviously a more "ignorant" kind of man?
This is not surprising given that the Tyrant-in-Chief proclaimed a while back that we are not a Christian nation while he himself pretends to be one yet, as a slap in the face to those who died at the hands of Islamists, he arrogantly declares that Islam is an integral part of the fabric of America. Hmm, it's just ironic that he fails to mention God and prayer after that fiasco last week at the Democratic Freakshow. Well screw the bastard, people will continue to pray for the victims and their families for years to come. McKenyan doesn't speak for most Americans and what he proclaims is his own opinion not representative of the ideals of most people.
We aren't a Christian nation, we are a free nation made up of many faiths. That is what he meant.
Lee Winningham, CORRECTION – We are a free nation and a CHRISTIAN nation! Sorry you're a little confused.
I'm not confused at all. The confused people are the ones that believe that this country was founded based on any particular religion, in this case Christianity.
“This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it” – by John Adams…“Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man” – by Thomas Jefferson…“I have found Christian Dogma unintelligible” – by Benjamin Franklin…“The Government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion” – by George Washington… Check and mate Kimberli…
Oh, I get it now- thank you Kimberli and Lee for helping me figure it out: We are a free nation, as long as a person is Christian. I am Christian, but I don't wish less than freedom on my fellow citizens who are not Christian.
Did you serve in uniform, Joel? I did. Neither Obama nor Romney did. I can't find record of the Romney family doing so, but I only have to go back to Obama's grandpa to find that he served for the US in World War II. Obama was too young for Vietnam- but we can't say if he would have evaded the draft like Romney did.
Isaac
I know a lot of people who served and a few that fought as well as some that didn't. So what's your point?
Kimberli Hogan-Hahn Kimberli, I am NOT a Christian – and I am not a bit less of an American than you are.
To all of the good "Christians" who allow themselves to be whipped into a fallacious frenzy by the NewsCorp propaganda machine: Ask yourselves – what would Jesus do?
I have read the bible from cover to cover…several times and I've never seen terms like, "Tyrant-in-Chief,
Lee Winningham
For you to actually believe this nation was not founded on any particular religion is incredible. You're obviously a product of the Chicago Public School system or just simply retarded.
Carlos
The term applies to your president.
Umm..dude…while guaranteeing everyone the freedom of religion, the founding fathers undeniably founded our great nation on Christianity. If you have any doubt, reread the Declaration of Independence, which invokes God twice in the first two sentences. Read the letters of the great men who wrote our Constitution, they ALL say the same thing, that it was inspired by God, and these men were Christians. There's a great book out there, The 5000 Year Leap, where you can read quotes from them. So, I agree, you're not confused, you're clearly just not informed.
Annie, you clearly need to read some history books PRONTO…1st, read my first comment that I posted a few comments earlier…it quotes our founding fathers specifically stating that they were in no way Christian and weren’t founding the United States on Christianity…2nd, stop perversing what they said when they reference God. You’re twisting their words around to make it sound like they were referring to your judeo-christian God. Please point out the part where they mention the phrase “christian God” in the constitution. You’re doing like most christians have done through out history and twisting words to fit YOUR beliefs…check out these websites and educate yourself http://freethought.mbdojo.com/foundingfathers.html and http://www.britannica.com/blogs/2007/02/the-us-founding-fathers-their-religious-beliefs/ Both of which are respected websites known for portraying true historic facts…you’re welcome!
Hi Joel,
Allow me to present some facts that refute this article and your misdirected anger:
1. The president issued nearly the same proclamation that Bush did in 2006, 2007, and 2008, which ALSO did not mention God at all. I forget, did you get mad at Bush for omitting God back then?
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/09/10/presidential-proclamation-patriot-day-and-national-day-service-and-remem
2. The president also issued a proclamation calling for national days of prayer, and in the first paragraph uses the term "God's grace"
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/09/07/presidential-proclamation-national-days-prayer-and-remembrance-2012
I look forward to your apology or your statement of refutation using facts and evidence.
We aren't a "christian nation"….There are millions of U.S. citizens that follow a different religion….They are friends at school with your children or at work a neighbor that has helped you in some way..Get of your high horse
Scooter Van Neuter Really, and what type of religion are we founded upon and what evidence to you have for your argument? Sure, you can take a few quotes out of context, but I have one for every quote you throw at me. The fact of the matter is, the founding generation (while many were religious) were products of and drew their knowledge and philosophies from a number of things, including the Enlightenment, English Common Law, and yes, some religion. However, to make the argument that they founded this country on a particular religion is wrong and it will always be wrong no matter how many times you say it. And so you know, I am a product of the Texas schools system and hold three BA's and one MA in history, not that I need to explain myself to you.

Well thats your opinion and you're entitled to it. Chrisitians have been around before the founding of this nation and have been a part of it for hundreds of years. I grant you there has been a decline in spirituality over the years, but Chrisitianity has been the overall faith in America followed by the other religions that were established here in the past century. But I will admit the the nation and world is in a moral decline, and America isnt as Christian as it used to be, but its still the primary faith. There is more hostility towards faith, be it from elements of the public, athiests, or from the courts. The times are worse than before. Im not on a high horse son, but if we're not a Christian nation then I challenge you to erase all references to God from goverment documents, speeches, our currency, and from the Pledge of Allegiance. Lets go even further and be like China by outlawing religion and imprisoning people for even holding service and worshipping. People fear what they dont understand.

Joel…while I do agree with you that America has more Christians in it than any other religion, I'd have to disagree with you in regards to the references of God. Can you quote ONE government document or currency where it states that it is SPECIFICALLY referring to the Christian God. The word "god" didn't start with christianity, it's in reference to a higher power, If the U.S. Government was specifically referring to the Christian God, than why not just simply say that?
No one ever said the founders never referenced God or a Creator, but determining that we are a "Christian" nation is making a jump based on no evidence whatsoever. Also, the founds had nothing to do with references to God on our currency or in the Pledge. In God we Trust was first used on paper money in 1957 and adopted as the national motto in 1956. The Pledge also got the addition of "under God" in the 1950s, so using it as evidence that we were founded on Christian doctrine is stupid.

Having served in the military, as do most of our varied experiences in life, may give us some insight on various issues, but service in the military or none of the other job experiences are a needed as a qualification to run for office.

The Motto was first used on coins since 1864 during the Civil War, much to the dismay of some secularists. The phrase first appeared in the Star Spangled Banner, our national anthem, during the War of 1812. A letter from a Reverend written in 1861 on behalf of 11 protestant denominations, petitioned the Department of the Treasury to recognize "Almighty God" on the coin currency to declare that God was on the side of the Union during the war. Lincoln's treasury secretary got the wheel moving on that and legislation was passed to allow the printing of the motto on one and two-cent coins and another Act of Congress allowed the motto to be put on gold and silver coins. The motto disappeard in 1883 and came back in 1938, but was made mandatory by Congress in 1908 that it be printed on all coins that it was previously on. During the cold war in '56, COngress passed a resolution to replace the motto back during those days to "in God We Trust" to counter the communists countries that promoted athiesm.

We might as well cancel Thanksgiving – a day of giving thanks to God, Christmas – a day celebrating Christ's birth, and Easter – a celebration of Christ's resurrection. You may enjoy those holidays or not, or having them off with pay, but if we're not a Christian nation, then why have these holidays? Maybe the government should ban it for good since federal employess get those days off and that could be seen by some as a form of endorsement of religion. These holidays have lost their meanings through secularization and commercialization anyway.
>After you, ladies first.
LOL. This is what is known as an "epic comeback fail".
Joel Rivera Thanks for that history lesson, but I just used the paper money example to point out the lack of connection between the founders and the motto. What the hell do any of those dates have to do with the founders actually writing the Constitution? Also, what does the declaration of these federal holidays, that are secular in many cases, have to do with the actual founding? And answer me this, if the founders wanted to found us on Christian principles then why not just say "this is a Christian nation?" After all, they had a paper, pens, and a closed meeting in which to do it back in 1787.
wow….everyone is over analyzing the what "God" our fore-fathers were referring to in governmental writing's. Think about it….back in the 1700's what "God" do you think they were referring to? They were English and England followed TWO forms of religion….Catholic & Protestant…..BOTH were CHRISTIAN religions!
it doesn't matter if they were referring to Zeus, they didn't found the country on it.

Let me repeat this. I, nor any other serious historian, have ever argued that the founders did not believe in God (some did, some didn't). However, the founders can believe in God, but not found the country based on the Christian God. They founded this republic as a secular free nation based on Enlightenment principles and English Common law hundreds of years old. They were intellectuals, not religious fanatics set out to create a theocracy.

Again…quote ONE reference to the "christian god" in any govt form…good luck finding it…stop repeating Christian mistakes of the past and conforming other people's words to YOUR beliefs….the term GOD did not originally come from Christian culture, it's been around for thousands of years, Christians originally named their God "God" so they could say that everybody else was referring to their personal "god"…the story of Jesus Christ is the largest story of plagiarism that has ever existed…do some ACTUAL research on the story of jesus…I'll give you a brief history lesson…Horus of Egypt 3000BC: Born on Dec 25th buy a virgin Isis-meri. His birth was accompanied by a star in the east and was adorned by 3 kings. At the age of 12 he was a prodigal child teacher, and at 30 he was baptized and began his ministry. He had 12 Disciples that traveled with him performing miracles such as healing the sick and walking on water. He was known by many names such as, The Truth, The Lamb of God, The Light, Gods Annointed Son, The Good Shepard, and many others. After being betrayed by Typhon he was crucified, buried for 3 days, and thus resurrected. Even the term "Amen" derives from Amen-Ra (a merger of Horus and Ra) people sent their prayers through the, "sun of god"
Attis of Phrygia 1200BC: Born of a virgin Nana on Dec 25th, who was crucified, placed in a tomb and who after 3 days was resurrected.
Krishna of India 900BC: Born of the virgin Devaki with a star in the East signaling his coming. He performed miracles with his disciples, and upon his death was resurrected.
Dionysus of Greece 500BC: Born of a virgin on Dec 25th, who was a traveling teacher who performed miracles such as turning water into wine. He was referred to as, The King of Kings, Gods only begotten son, Alpha and Omega, and many others. And upon his death was resurrected.
Mithra of Persia 1200BC: Born of a virgin on Dec 25th, he had 12 disciples and performed miracles. Upon his death he was buried for 3 days and thus resurrected. He was also referred to as, The Truth, The Light, and many others. Interestingly the sacred day of worship of Mithra was Sunday
The fact of the matter is that there are numerous accounts of prophets, gods, and sons of gods that parallel the story of Jesus that all predate Jesus. Here's a list of many of those; Chrishna of Hindostan, Budha Sakia of India, Salivahana of Bermuda, Odin of the Scandinavians, Crite of Chaldea, Zoroaster and Mithra of Persia, Baal and Taut of Phoenecia, Indra of Tibet, Bali of Afghanistan, Jao of Nepal, Wittoba of the Bilingonese, Thammuz of Syria, Xamolxis of Thrace, Zoar of the Bonzes, Adad of Assyria, Deva Tat and Sammonocadam of Siam, Alcides of Thebes, Mikado of the Sintoos, Beddru of Japan, Hesus or Eros and Bremrillah of the Druids, Thor of the Gauls, Cadmus of Greece, Hil and Feta of the Mandaites, Gentuat and Quexalcote of Mexico, Universal Monarch of the Sibyls, Ischy of the island of Formosa, Holy One of Xaca, Fohi and Tien of China, Adonis son of the vigin Io of Greece, Ixion and Quirinus of Rome, and Prometheus of Caucasus.
Stop being ignorant to FACTS and truely open your mind
Meanwhile, you are going to vote for the Jesus – hating cultist Mitt Romney, who won't show his tax returns b/c he's funding Mexican drug cartels. Go figure. If you vote for Romney, you aren't a Christian, either.
This is so much faux outrage. Lee is 100% right. Show me one place in the constitution that says this is a christian country and I will show where it is not. You can not pretend to live by this document and hold it up at every rally you attend and then just pick and chose what you want. People have learned bad habits using their bibles a buffets.
For instance take article 6
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.
That is pretty strong SHALL EVER BE REQUIRED
Isaac O'Bannon Obama does by proclamation and action really seem to care for the troops. Romney views them as a line item.

You are a fool. I'm voting for experience knowledge and know-how and not religion, nor race, nor inexperience, nor an empty suit, nor a socialist. There's no litmus test here for anything so save it. Sometimes people vote for the lesser of the evils and in this election year, even though the choices leave much to be desired, I'll vote to avoid going the socialist route. Some people have it in their mind that a black person as president is better for the country at the same time that person would be a better leader. All leaders come from different races, there's no denying, but I know of other blocks that would make better leaders than this joke, but the fact of the matter is that race is of no importance, and neither is religion, but that's not to say that a candidate can't have a faith because faith is important to any person, it shouldn't be the only reason next to race. Although many presidents came into office being of a different faith, like race it wasn't the deciding factor in electing them president. If people like you are going to vote for these thing rather than for what really matters, like experience, knowledge, and what a candidate would do to try to solve the nations problems and get the wheels of the economy moving again, then we'll find ourselves in this very situation we're stuck in, a president ran on boastful promises and who proclaimed that if he couldn't get the economy moving again, that he he be a one term president, and obviously things aren't great like he claims and he's still running. With that said, vote however way you want, I'm sticking with experience as well as someone who actually knows what they're talking about in a way that they don't have to be coached just to give the illusion of knowing what they're doing.
Ray Giles
If McKenyan really cared for the troops hen he wouldn't have cut their medical benefits and 50,000 wouldn't be getting imminent pink slips. He sure as hell wouldnt be fighting against the military early voting in Ohio. If he cares for them why do any of this? He talks from both ends of his body.
Joel Rivera First off, voting for Obama is not voting for socialism. The idea that Obama is a socialist is a ludicrous as the notion that the founders established a Christian theocracy. And second, Obama is not fighting against military early voting. Any other stupid falsehoods you want to through out here today?

He is a socialist nd here's a stupid yet silly quote for you, "The government is the only thing we all belong to."
Joel Rivera Fine, provide some evidence that he is a socialist. I got all day, I would love to see it. Is there anyone that actually said that quote or did you dream it last night? I would assume that in context the individual was talking about a government by the people, which we do supposedly have, which means we are all part of it since it represents us.
Please keep schooling these idiots, Lee. I am very much enjoying your comments.
I've got all day. They really don't know how bored I am.
Hi Joel. I couldn't help but notice that you had posted the following comment elsewhere:
"Those fisherman be damned. I sincerely hope they suffer a slow, painfully agonizing death as fish bait."
As you made a concerted effort to emphasize the sincerity of this desire, I will treat the statement in question as literal. That is, I am taking you at your word that you do, in actual fact, wish a "slow, painfully agonizing death" on some particular set of human beings.
I have a follow-up question of some importance, I believe:
Which slow, painfully agonizing method of death was Christ most in favor of? I ask because, as a Christian nation, we should surely seek to emulate our lord and savior in as many was as possible.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter. It is refreshing to see such a staunch pillar of morality and justice fighting the good fight in the heathen, liberal, namby-pamby wasteland of the internet.
No we're not a Christian nation. Find any mention in the Constitution of establishing Christianity- or any other religion- as the official religion of our nation. You can't. While you're free to go worship whatever god you want, do not dare to try to impose your religion on the rest of us. That's not how America works and if you and your christian ilk beg to differ, you are more than welcome to leave here and set up a nation based on your religion.
But, Mr. Winningham, IT WAS!!!!!
"People fear what they dont understand." The irony is palpable.
Joel Rivera sorry to burst your bubble but have to draw attention to this comment you made.
"We might as well cancel Thanksgiving – a day of giving thanks to God, Christmas – a day celebrating Christ's birth, and Easter – a celebration of Christ's resurrection. You may enjoy those holidays or not, or having them off with pay, but if we're not a Christian nation, then why have these holidays? Maybe the government should ban it for good since federal employess get those days off and that could be seen by some as a form of endorsement of religion. These holidays have lost their meanings through secularization and commercialization anyway."
but these holidays were never christian to begin with. Christians have a was of taking over other religions demonizing them and converting there traditions to their own. Native Americans celebrated the fall harvest long before anyone else came along and made it thanksgiving. And Christmas is the Pagan holiday Yule which again christians took over demonizing the pagan religion and commandeering their beliefs and festivals. According to the bible jesus wasn't even born in the winter so christmas wouldn't even be his birthday. And Easter is the only one still based on the equinox which is another Pagan holiday Ishtar that christians conveniently converted to dominate the people and the religious world. Look at the facts christianity is relatively new and isn't even original just bits and pieces of other religions that they took over. These holidays didn't loose their meaning to secularization and commercialization they lost their meaning when christianity took them over and twisted them to fit their ideals.
Rhonda Beard It was what?
No, that isn't what Obama meant. Let's face it, Obama isn't a man of the Christian faith.
winningham has clearly won the argument. joel, you have not provided anything to support your claim. the fact the "god" was added in to certain currencies or allegiances later in american history does not make this a god country or a christian country. our founders were secularists, plain and simple. the evidence supports it.
Harvey Atu Meant by what? And since there is not religious requirement for president I don't see that it matters what particular sky wizard he worships.
1)Everyone knows that Obama isn't a Christian (he might claim to be one, but I can say I'm a rocket scientist, but it doesn't make me one).
2)This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
As a general rule of thumb, you are highly unlikely to find well educated individuals stupid enough to believe in a 'god'….
It's been well established that believing in a 'god' is consistent with considerably diminished intelligence….

Eduardo, you SURE AIN'T no "rocket scientist", son.
what I meant with my comment is that I prefer Obama not mentioning God's name than have him use His name just to get votes. I was diggusted as a couple of presidents in Brazil were using religion as a way to get votes when they (the politicians) were clearly against everything catholicsm teaches (oour current president claimed to be a catholic, but she didn't even know how to do the "in the name of the Father"). I would rather have less hypocrisy.
Eduardo! Look around you! There's plenty of insincere "Christian" hypocrisy ALL OVER these boards and comments! And believe me; Obama's not just a "paper Christian"–he may not be nutty and ideologically radical as some of you Christians may desire him to be, but who would want that in a President? That's a SURE Path to tyranny and dictatorship.
Obama's ditactorship isn't batlant like Hitler's or Stalin's. But, as you siad, there are lots of fake christians around the world. I'm a conservative catholic and I have to admit I feel sick reading some comments in this website. Also, I know that what Fox news says isn't 100% true automatically because it's a conservative driven media. It says some bullshit sometimes. Also, just because someone is religous, it doesn't make him a "radical" or 'nutty". Many great minds were religious. Also, I hope you're not one of the people who think that catholic church halted science. Because that's a big load of crap marxist history books love to tell (there was navgation breakthroughs, some medicine, universities were invented by the catholic church and so on). A psycho is a psycho no matter what. Also blame a faith for their "crazy" members is just like a news from a liberal media of my country once tried to shove down our throats. I'll sum what happened to you: years ago a teen couple decided to flee together (remember our last talk about how stupid teens think with their waist and not their brains) and the mass media decided to throw the blame of the happening on the fact that the two teens liked to cosplay.
why…just why do this stupid facebook keep deleting what I write. I'll see if I can cut it in several small posts…

sorry for the spam. I'm just angry at facebook right now.
before FB deletes it again: long story short, Fox news exagerates and I need to filterwhat is a lie and what is not.
Sorry to hear you're having these problems, Eduardo. And if its any consolation to you, I was a Catholic as well before studying religion and Christianity and becoming an atheist.
I dunno why you'd be having those "auto-deleting" things happening to you? MAybe if you're posting from Brazil? Maybe there's some sort of filter?
I don't know if it's because I'm from Brazil. I'm not the only one to have this proble,, thou. I've read some other people complaining about having their comments deleted auomatically.
"Obama's ditactorship"(sic) *SMH* If you think Obama is running a dictatorship, you do not understand the meaning of the word.
There are more ways to control a population than just point guns to their heads, Greg.

Yes, Eduardo–like by marshaling the power of a dedicated propaganda network like Fox to mislead the people and make them ignorant and emotional enough that their reasoning ability is subjugated to their emotions. Then there is the perversion of procedure and the abuse-of-power which seeks to prevent the proper functioning of government. Or how about the deliberate use of War as a policy, in order to invest he government with the power to silence and detain "undesirables" under the cynical disguise of "enemies' during wartime? Then there's trying to stifle and stop the vote, and to deny people the very first promise of Democracy-the right to choose their own leaders. This is how the Right is ALREADY careening down a path to Fascism and de facto dictatorship.
In one of my deleted posts I said that Fox news do say a load of crap sometimes. Like this news we're commenting on. but even you must admit that Obama is sweeping away several rights from people in USA. That alone doesn't need Fox news to tell me that. And I hope you don't think Obama is a peace bringer, because so far he didn't do jack to do so either (not saying Bush was a saint either, for me both, Obama and Bush, suck hard)
Please name what rights are being swept away, including facts to substantiate your claims.
1)Right to choose whether or not you want the free healthcare (and not have it imposed to you or your company)
2)deny a baby the right to live (If a nother does not desire a child, put him/her for adoption)
3)the next one, I'm not sur eif it's legit, since it's stuff "I've heard of". I don't live in USA nor read its material 24/7, so you must know if it's legit or not, so IN CASE it is, here it is another right: the right to defend oneself. It's the gun control thingy. i'll use Brazil as an example: a few years ago the governament made a poll asking us if guns should be banned or not (ignoring the fact that civilians get their guns legally while criminals get their guns illegally in most cases). We voted to keep our guns, but the governament said "LOL. You don't know what you want. Imma make guns illegal" and there it was. Criminal rate didn't go down (it went up instead), criminals still get their guns and innocent citzen cant react.

" 1)Right to choose whether or not you want the free healthcare (and not have it imposed to you or your company)"
You have that right. There is no government option and there certainly is no "Free healthcare". I'm not sure you understand what the ACHA actually does.
"2)deny a baby the right to live (If a nother does not desire a child, put him/her for adoption)"
You have the right to not get an abortion. You're advocating the removal of others' rights, that's different.

Obama has not done ANYTHING to further gun control. Not a thing. He's scared of the NRA lobbyists.

Eduardo, you don't know what you're talking about, especially regarding the PPACA. There is no "free healthcare" involved. Please educate yourself.
Good choice, considering the attacks were made in the name of 'god'….
The sooner this foul disease known as 'religion' is eradicated, the better. Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid….
I am tired of Fox and the radical persons wishing to transform my life telling me how to think, how to speak, how to act, what words to use. Most of the time you are lying, distorting, disparaging, maligning. I don't wish to follow in those footsteps. Get a life. The God you so easily toss around will someday have his way with you. He is almighty, He is just, and He is also unforgiving of those who distort His name and His message.
You're distorting God yourself. God is forgiving of those who seek it. No one is telling you how to live your life. Have you forgotton or are you aware of the concept of free will? You can accept truth or you can continue to live your life as you see fit. Its your right. If you're tired of Fox then why are you posting here, becaue obviously you're watching and you're free to stop and tune into a news channel thats suited to your beliefs.
And yet it does not bother you that all the major networks and media have been manipulating your thoughts and actions now for many a year. Interesting, who knew?
Then why are you here on a Fox News website?
Joel Rivera I really like the way you put things.
Rhonda Beard
Thanks. At least she wasnt acting confrontational like most people on here. Looking at all of the comments on this thread, its just more proof of the decline of this nation and civilization. This is all a sign of the times and Im just waiting for the next big global event to happen.
Don't read or listen to Fox. That's a no brainer. By the way, Jesus still loves you.

Why would the idiot mention God when he doesn't believe in God. The only god he believes in is himself. What a jacka$$.
Actually , it has been clearly established that 'idiots' are those that believe in 'gods'
The good thing is that he's mortal and has no supernatural power. He is fallible, he is imperfect, he has a begining and he sure as hell will have an ending.

I look forward to your apology or your statement of refutation using facts and evidence.
I will never apologize for my anger at obama. He is destroying the country I love and does not deserve an apology. His simple act of breathing air makes me angry. Many of us feel that way. And if you support him, I feel pity for you.
Barbara
Almost 4 years and the country is worse of, we're the laughing stock of the world, and meanwhile McKenyan is letting the Israeli's down and dictating to them where their defense and well being is concerned. If anyone needs to apologize, its more the voters for giving us this untried and inexperienced mess of a failure.
Barbara,
If I thought there was a chance that we could have a reasonable discussion of the issues I would engage in one with you.
However your response makes it clear that no amount of facts, evidence, calm discussion, or convincing rhetoric will have any impact on you and your views.
Don't feel pity for me. Unlike you I am open to changing my mind when presented with new evidence and/or facts that refute my previously held positions.
If I thought like you I would probably still think the world was flat like I did when I was 5 years old.
If you change you mind and decide to respond in a logical, fact-based manner, I will still be here ready to discuss.
Joel Rivera, unfortunately your claim about the country being worse is not supported by facts or evidence.
By nearly every metric the country is BETTER than it was prior to Obama taking office.

Barbara, I feel pity for you that you hold such anger in your heart for the mere fact that one person simply breathes. Whatever happened to Love Thy Neighbor? Do I support every choice that President Obama makes? No! Did I support every choice that President Bush made? No! But I respect the person for the simple fact that they are one of my fellow human beings, are Americans, and that they either were or are the President of the Greatest Country on Earth!
So you are acting on feeling and not on logic…..nice. How has this county been destroyed?
I like what you said, simple and to the point. Jackass fits Obama well. He does belong to the jackass party!! The jackass is perfect for the Democrats, for they have become the party of #@%*!
Harvey Atu ANd they're going to win in November. So much for "God" being on your side!
Why would the idiot mention God when he doesn't believe in God. The only god he believes in is himself. What a jacka$$.
Todd, Todd, Todd. I'm sure you could find something about Obama to bitch about without making up a lie. God is mentioned in the proclamation, and Obama called for three days of national prayer. What have you got against telling the truth?
Where exactly is God mentioned in the proclamation? I cannot find it and where exactly does Obama call for 3 days of national prayer? I cannot find that either. Please show me the truth?
Try the story on the Christian Post.

How perfectly wise and appropriate not to mention "God" in his 9/11 address! God was a major FAIL in heeding the fervent, impassioned prayers of those who both died, and watched their loved ones perish on that ignominious day! Every fatherless, motherless "9-11 child" today is a confirmation of God's failure to deliver on 9/11. Every soul that plunged to Earth in a desperate attempt to escape the consuming flames is a testament to God's incompetence or apathy to his "children".
Or, you could choose to believe that "Allah", the god of Islam THOROUGHLY kicked the butt of the "Christian" God on that day, lol. So much for "an awesome God"! lol!
In any case, Obama is COMPLETELY CORRECT.
Just remember, ZZZ, this comment WILL be replayed during YOUR judgement day in FRONT of the very God you mock. What you do NOT understand is that GOD gave us FREE choice, and on that day, those terrorists made a choice. We do not always know why certain things like this are allowed to happen, but with this sinful move by the terrorists, they all met the one and true God of Abraham that day! As a Christian, i do NOT fear death!
Meh, that doesn't scare me, Darla–I don't believe in your God or your "judgment". You might as well be telling me that I"d wind up watching reruns of "Huckabee" for eternity. (Actually, THAT would SUCK!)
HOWEVER–if I DID believe in your God, you can BET that, if that comment were "replayed", I would use the opportunity to chew the pants out of "God" for his indefensible incompetence, embarrassing failure, and boastful claims of "omniscience" and "all powerfulness". And I'd walk out of his court, proudly, as a unimpeachable spokesman for the dead and those that he so gravely let down.

LOL! There is no god, silly!
God is on Facebook? Should I be concerned that he hasn't friended me?
God is on Facebook? Should I be concerned that he hasn't friended me?
Curt Abbott Ha ha, Curt! I guess you don't know—YOU have to go to HIM to get "friended". If you don't reassure God that he's "likable", he'll slam you down in a lake of fire quicker than you can choke on a Chik-Fl-A!
eh, his son is too liberal for my liking, anyway.
My God is an awesome God!
Harvey Atu Bumper sticker sloganeering is SOOOOO passe', Harvey.
Who gives a shit?
Who gives a shit?
Is he insane. Look at what a upset it was at DNC about God. He's a looser…

Also, the "god issue" (eg the booing) at the DNC was not about god, but rather the poor voting process.
God has no place within our government, not every American citizen is Christian, therefore it would be highly disrespectful to a lot of Americans if the Christian god was constantly shoved down their throat! Our nation was not built on religious beliefs and it should remain that way, don’t believe me… “This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it” – by John Adams…“Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man” – by Thomas Jefferson…“I have found Christian Dogma unintelligible” – by Benjamin Franklin…“The Government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion” – by George Washington. Religious freedom doesn’t mean “freedom to force everyone to follow your religion.” We have "freedom of religion" (the right of churches to teach people to believe what they want) but we have no right to "freedom from religion" (the right not to have other peoples beliefs and religious rules promoted or adopted by the state)? How does that even remotely make any sense? Everyone has the right to believe in anything they want. And everyone else has the right to find it fucking ridiculous! I’m not going to censor myself in this post to comfort your ignorance at all. No amount of belief makes something a fact, just because you’re not smart enough to know what physicists are talking about doesn’t mean God exists. Religion’s just what we thought before we understood what mental illness was, “A bush talked to me!” “Brilliant, what did it say? what did the bush say to you? Lets live our lives by what the bush said!” don’t be dumb by choice, use your brain. Because desert goat herding, murderous, rapists living in tents 3000 years ago knew more about the cosmos and biology than modern day scientists. I mean really, does a god who drowns the entire world except for Noah and his family sound like a god who loves you? Before you say you want me to respect your religion…tell me again how much you think people with different beliefs should go to hell and burn for eternity…I saw somebody mentioned “free will”…free will? Either you follow the word of god, or you’ll be punished with eternal hellfire. That’s the same kind of “choice” an abusive boyfriend gives you: “either you do exactly what I say, or I’ll beat the shit out of you” The bible is no more proof in the existence of god than a superman comic is proof in the existence of superman. I’m not insulting your religion, I’m just trying to explain why it isn’t true! Don’t believe me…do some research on the Egyptian God “Horus” who was originally mentioned around 3000 B.C. and you’ll see that his story almost EXACTLY matches that of Jesus, in fact there are hundreds of deities that predate Jesus and pretty much parallel the story of Jesus. And before you even think of saying something like, “I’ll pray for you.” Let me say one last thing…There are about 21 major religions in the world today. (we’ll forget about the small religions for a moment) So if you pray for me…
21 religions = 4.75% chance that you are praying to the right God.
4.75% = 95.25% chance that you're praying to the WRONG god.
Praying to the wrong God = Real God is very angry!
Real God angry = Not good for me.
Pray for yourself! Not me…
oh and by the way….instead of solely listening to what the media says about 9/11 do some ACTUAL research on it and you'll find out that the government witheld more information than was given! Never just take someones word for anything, do your own research and come to your own conclusion based on ALL the facts presented…
Why is this news? Are people supposed to get mad every time Obama opens his mouth or issues a proclamation and doesn't happen to mention God? Go to your local church or mosque or whatever if you want to hear people talk about the invisible man in the sky. Obama is the President, not the pope.
Paul Ryan didn't mention God when talking about the economy. Damned communist.
Brotherman…heed your own advice. I know you said it was for tomorrow, but let's not drag down your hearts intent with those words. They were well said and well met. Let the fools talk and wise men be silent on this…
Didn't realize this posted to FB. Still, this wasn't about the politics of 911.
Didn't realize this posted to FB. Still, this wasn't about the politics of 911.
No reason it should mention god. Lots of reasons why it shouldn't.
Hypocricy: blindly repudiating a sacred declaration of remembrance in one breath — and proclaiming the power of prayer in the very next breath.
Did the author (or any of the other negative commenters) even read the proclamation?
Not only did President Obama encourage people to serve their community via faith-based organizations, but he ended the proclamation with "…in the year of our LORD.."
Seriously people, blind contempt is a contagion and many of you are chronically infected. I can only pray that our LORD will clear your hearts and minds of this poisonous vitriol. As for those who choose to spread malfeasance under the cloak of religion and piety…may GOD have mercy on your souls.
What does it matter? You might as well have titled this article Obama’s 9-11 Proclamation Does Not Mention Santa Claus, they're about equally as real. God is irrelevant in the united states anymore, atheism is the new Christianity. Is 9/11 a tragedy? Yes! Of course it is, it's one of the most tragic events in America's history, but even if there was/is a God he probably had nothing at all to do with it.
Wow, atheism the new Christianity—don't think so. Christianity has lasted over 2,000 years. Godless people will not bring down Christianity. The only thing Godless people are going to do is destroy each other. How sad to have nothing to believe in, to old onto.
Harvey Atu Christianity is doing a GREAT job of destroying itself. We atheists are just sitting back, laughing. And WE WILL have the last laugh.
What parallel universe does this bullshit come from? FOX erased the God part, so they could have a story here. God, the lengths Fox will go to to print unmitigated crap…. The mind boggles.
God was asleep on 911, still is for some of us.
WHAT'S WITH THIS VOLUNTEERING CRAP?
I understand the Dems don't embrace God & not sure why they aren't enraged by it, but… REALLY
Lose your job, VOLUNTEER!
Find your spouse cheating on you, VOLUNTEER!
Remember 9/11, VOLUNTEER!
Indeed, *Lee* makes the most valid point. America is a nation of many faiths. Lee, does your post mean to suggest, imply or intimate that Americans of any and all faiths are deeply offended? As a Jew, I’m not offended by Christian declarations. That I have a different view… well, my faith is sufficiently secure that no other ethical streams of faith or belief can ever threaten me at all..
As the United States of America factually is a composite of many, many diverse cultures, by definition our nation is a combination of many, many faiths. The first word of the official name of our country is: united. In our specific national context, united does not mean united Christianity, united Judaism, united Buddhism, united Atheism, united Islam, united Taoism or any of the multitude of faiths found on Earth and in America..
To be sure, there are those whose faith dictates overt expressions of their faith. However, they cannot possibly ever preclude the united nature of America. Such faith(s) are personal expressions..
Religion does not unify our country. It is America, Americans and American principles that form our national unity..
I appreciate your consideration as an American and as a member of Humanity.

Lotsa folks debating the exclusion of God in the proc and promoting Obama. That's an effort of diversion. The debate on here I think, should be about why has the Democrat left pulled God out of our dialog? First it was out at the convention position paper then due to PUBLIC outcry, was amended back in. Then the floor vote was taken and it was decidedly not settled by a 2/3rd's majority. The media glossed over that. But really, if the DNC had the constitution to publicly state: "We do not want God in our party" they'd be a club of very few. Over 70% of this country declares themselves Christians but most aren't aware of the Democrat stance.

But really, if the DNC had the constitution to publicly state: "We do not want God in our party" they'd be a club of very few. Over 70% of this country declares themselves Christians but most aren't aware of the Democrat stance.
Lotsa folks debating the exclusion of God in the proc and promoting Obama. That's an effort of diversion. What a pleasant surprise actually to see some people not turning this into a cause for tirades and taking some perspective. maybe we are mellowing as a group. For others, of course, it's the same old story. If he'd mentioned God he'd be accused of electioneering or even lying because he's supposedly not a Christian, but if he didn't, it's some sort of scandal. He's always wrong no matter what he does. Incidentally, I will point out that belief in god does not require that one be a Christian; that was the case with many of the Founding Fathers.

Fox…PLEASE stop these petty attacks… Today IS a day to remember and to pray in your own way for the people and families that lost a loved one on 9-11-2001…..take a break from your obvious attacks on The President of The U.S….at least for the day…9-11…… tia
Maybe he didn't mention god because he's smart enough to realize the irony of evoking a holy war and isn't as dumb as Bush who made the mistake of using the word "crusade" against radical Islam. People of all faiths including no faiths died on 9/11. Bin Ladin was striking out against Americans, not Christians. And Obama's remarks today mentioned god, so Fox, you can untwist your panties.
Where exactly was this God fellow on September 11, 2001?

Oh I know!! I know! He was making a pretty little cross out of the rubble to show his love for everyone! O_o

The thing about nearly every one of Todd Starnes' pieces on this site is that they take less than 10mins of work to refute.
For example:
1. The president issued nearly the same proclamation that Bush did in 2006, 2007, and 2008, which ALSO did not mention God at all.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/09/10/presidential-proclamation-patriot-day-and-national-day-service-and-remem
2. The president also issued a proclamation calling for national days of prayer, and in the first paragraph uses the term "God's grace".

Oh, and Todd? The DNC delegates were booing the poor voting process, NOT God and Jerusalem.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8BwqzzqcDs Seriously. Obvious that it was about the lack of a 2/3rds vote, NOT that they hate God and Jerusalem.
I look forward to your official retraction.
wow….everyone is over analyzing the what "God" our fore-fathers were referring to in governmental writing's. Think about it….back in the 1700's what "God" do you think they were referring to? They were English and England followed TWO forms of religion….Catholic & Protestant…..BOTH were CHRISTIAN religions!
Did you notice terrorist was not even mentioned until the very last line? Seems thousands of people died because of the collapse of the towers, but no mention of WHY they collapsed, who caused the deaths!
Because the word "terrorist" appearing in every other document, newspaper, and blog post for the last 12 years has gotten us so scared that we gave up a lot of civil liberties, and are now realizing that that kind of fearmongering has no place in a society the believes itself to be strong, powerful, and resilient?
I do not think it is fear mongering to state facts, rather, keeps knowledge as to truths. Talk to survivors of Nazi Germany, would you eliminate "Nazi Germany" and instead refer to only the millions of person who died in a war? Knowledge is strength, when it is watered down, history is lost.
It's a day of remembering those lost. We have reminder every day (even without the famous "terror alert level"). It is ok to take the time to feel the grief without feeling the anger.
Seems 9/11 may be one of the few times that we are being directed to feel grief with out knowing why. As an example:
The USS Arizona Memorial is built over the remains of the sunken battleship USS Arizona, the final resting place for many of the 1,177 crewmen killed on December 7, 1941 when their ship was bombed by Japanese Naval Forces. This loss of life represents over half of the Americans killed during the worst naval disaster in American history.
Web I was stationed in Hawaii, I lived on Ford island. I drove past the Arizona every day.
Every year on December 7th, WWII vets, both US and Japanese, pay their tributes at the memorial. There is no hatred there. No animosity. Just mutual respect and grief for the lives lost in such pointless violence.
And that is what it should be, my point is that the explanation for the loss of lives is clearly stated, not hidden as an after thought. "Their ship was bombed by japanese Naval forces", rather than "….mighty towers collapsed". See the difference?
On Sep 7 Obama already declared the entire week to be for "Prayer and Remembrance", an entire proclamation about faith and God.
When is "Put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye" day? It should be just around the corner.
I'm of the opinion that community service gets things done much better than prayer.
As you noted, he did say this regarding the week before 9/11: "NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Friday, September 7 through Sunday, September 9, 2012, as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance."

What can you expect from a Muslim? We are a Judeo-Christian nation! All you non-believers will find out whether you are right or not when you die…and someday you will die…you can believe that!
I'd like I calmly refute your assertation with logic, but I'm kind of tired of doing that. So I'll just speak from the heart:
You and everyone like you are lunatics. If you expect me to alter my behavior because I a badly written, contradictory, badly interpereted book tells me I'm going to some barbecue, you're off your meds.
It would be a crying shame for us to be kind an compassionate without some invisible bogeyman telling us to do so, wouldn't it? I mean ht havok would be wrought if people realized that they had a concience, and as such didn't need some old book to tell them what to do!
He didn't mention Gandalf or Obi Wan Kenobi, either.
So f*cking what? Get a life.
Yeah, who cares???? I agree. They are really having a hard time picking him apart.
If it did they would complain that it did. Fox News will always find something….
After Obama gets through with America—–who knows what kind of life American's will have.

Yeah Harvey – life is awful in this gulag, huh? I mean Obama took away everything you own, jacked your taxes and sent your kids to kill brown people on the other side of the world. How are you managing?
I'm more pissed that he thinks sept 11 is in Autumn.
I'm more pissed that he thinks sept 11 is in Autumn.
I am totally confused. Since when did we make some kind of tribal agreement with God to have our leaders invoke his name ritualistically in their speeches so the volcano won't spew forth its wrath upon us?
Throwing virgins into the volcano is more reliable anyway
In other words, people are attacking Obama because he made a proclamation that doesn't have as much Jehovah in it as they think it should have.

The delusional idiot of an OP seems to be unable to do the simplest of google searches. Or he would have found Obama's Presidential Proclamation declaring not one, not two, but three days of Prayer and Remembrance for 9/11.

And that's why we are in the state we are now…we've turned our back on Almighty God and now…we get crap like Obama spewing hatred and his love for islam that false religion. Well guess what? I will continue to pray, and hold strong to my beliefs as the president does NOT represent me!
