WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration will stop deporting and begin giving work permits to younger illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and have since led law-abiding lives. The election-year initiative addresses a top priority of a growing Latino electorate that has opposed administration deportation policies.

The administration’s decision will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants. Two senior administration officials described the plan on condition of anonymity ahead of its expected announcement Friday.
Illegal immigrants will avoid deportation and be eligible for work permits if they arrived in the U.S. before age 16, are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school or earned a GED, or served in the military.

It would help if your employer, FOX, figured out how they feel about this. On one hand you have the Fox nation website bashing Obama for this, but yet the Fox Latino site paints a very different picture. I also believe Marco Rubio who is no left wing liberal supports allowing children who came into this country illegally – through no fault of their own to stay as long as they obeyed our laws once they arrived here. Conservatives are all over the map on this so by painting it as simply Obamas fault and bashing him over this isn't going to help Romney win over the latino voters. Romney cannot win the electoral map with out getting the latino votes in much higher percentage points than how he is polling with them now. So continue to bash non documented children who came over illegally through no fault of their own, and you only will further alienate the latino vote. Fox's own polling has Romney trailing the latino vote to by 79 to 14 percent. He cannot win the electoral map with those numbers if the latinos show up at the polls in November.

Illegals may not be voting in droves but they are. They do this by purchasing id's in the black market or assuming a dead persons identity. It does happens but not a whole lot of media outlets are reporting it. My social security number was bought three times on seperate occasions in the 90's by three illegals, two men and a woman. Who sold it, Im not sure, but people say that these numbers are sold by people working on the inside who look to make an opportunity for themselves. Social security was made aware of the problem but would not seek out these individuals and arrest them, and the most they claim they could do was to remove these people from my number, make a note of it on their computers and tell me to keep an eye on my number every 6 months just to make sure its not being used by an illegal gaining employment or trying to obtain credit. And yes, they said that stolen id's may be used for voter registration which is why I support strongly the "Voter ID" law because I want fair elections just like everyone else, to ensure that the voting process isnt tainted by people who are not supposed to vote because of illegal status or for the fact that a person is not registered to vote.
Howard Aubrey Joel is absolutely right! I worked at a company in Oregon and several of our Latino employees openly admitted to buying SS numbers to get employment. Back then I was not as political as I am now, so I did not report it. I should have.

When California came out with it's new holographic driver's license in the '80s,illegals could buy ones that had been stolen by a DMV employee,and this happened before they were even issued to the public.i think you could get a driver's license,SSA and a green card,starting at $1500.An aside – 'migre was arresting Irish illegals by the bunch,those same years.

This reeks of amnesty and new voters.
