President Obama and the First Family attended a Washington, D.C. church that supports the Occupy Wall Street movement.
The president, who rarely attends church, was visiting Zion Baptist Church, a 146-year-old congregation in the nation’s capital. According to the church, their mission is to “enlist sinners, educate students, empower the suffering, encourage the saints, exalt our Savior.”
The worship program included an appeal to help the Occupy D.C. movement, according to the White House pool report.
They pleaded for donations of “new and gently used warm blankets, sleeping bags, hand and feet warmers.”
The Occupy D.C. movement includes about 150 protesters encamped in McPherson Square. The Washington Post reported that critics of the occupation zone describe it as a “rat-infested, messy eyesore of any encampment.”
Prior to President Obama’s arrival at Zion Baptist Church, Rev. Keith Byrd addressed the congregation.
“They are coming to worship. Let the church say amen,” he said according to an account published by the Washington Post.
The choir then sang “Lord, You Are Good” as the president entered the sanctuary, according to the White House pool report.
For the record, church members were not waving palm branches.
As for the Occupy D.C. collections — maybe they should add Febreeze and Raid to the list?

instead of 'handing out' goodies…why not have a forum developed to help them find and obtain jobs…or maybe even 'create' one? become part of the solution..instead part of the problem? just saying…..its a thought…lol.

Why don't this fine church let these occupy scum into their church to clean up a little and to get out of the cold. Wouldn't that be the christian thing to do.

2012 Elections white Americans are people of the United States who mainly distoryed this Country with rules that only fited them and there famelys and every other race had to suffer and go hungry and now here we are in 2012 and theyre still trying to starve the blacks and poor shaded color people' history shows from 1792 untill 2007 whites was in control of the white house and washington DC.the blacks was able to gain some control in 2008 God controls the polls.

As for starving the "poor folks" Jim, they, and even the illegals in this country get food stamps and have been for more than forty years, so I don't think any of them are starving,they all know the way to the welfare office.

however he has been in several mosque—he has prayed to the terrorist allah, but now that he's trying to get re-elected he wants everyone to believe he Christian—-he hates Christians.

It matters not what religion you believe in as much as how you live in your Belief. Do you live being good, or live to hate? Those who want to kill because you don't believe as they do are likely part of the Devils Army talked about in the Christian Bible.

You can have your problems with Occupy – I do – but are all of you so rich and high up in society that you're against everything Occupy is for? Smaller disparities between the extremely rich and the rest of us? Responsibility for helping destroy our economy through selfish and irresponsible leadership?
