The official White House holiday card makes no mention of the word ‘Christmas’ and instead focused on Bo the First Dog based on the wishes of the First Family.
“From our family to yours, may your holidays shine with the light of the season,” read the inside of the card, featuring the presidential seal.
The front of the card features Bo the First Dog lounging by a fireplace. Holiday greenery is draped over the fireplace mantle. Holiday presents are placed on a table underneath a poinsettia – instead of a Christmas tree.
Los Angeles-based artist Mark Matuszak told the LA Times that he was asked to create the card by the White House social secretary.
“They wanted to do an inside shot, something home related,” Matuszak told the newspaper. He said one of the ideas was to focus on the Obama’s family dog. “So we thought, let’s put Bo in front of a fireplace.”
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin told Fox News & Commentary that she found the card to be a bit unusual.
“It’s odd,” she said, wondering why the president’s Christmas card highlights his dog instead of traditions like “family, faith and freedom.”
“Even stranger than that was his first year in office when the Christmas ornaments included Chairman Mao,” Palin said. “People had to ask that it be removed because it was offensive.”
President Obama’s Christmas Cards have been the subject of controversy in the past. His 2009 greeting card made no reference to Christmas, drawing the ire of Republican Congressman Henry Brown.
“I believe that sending a Christmas card without referencing a holiday and its purpose limits the Christmas celebration in favor of a more ‘politically correct’ holiday,” the South Carolina congressman told Fox News Radio in 2009.
Former President Bush did not mention Merry Christmas in his cards, but had a history of including Bible passages on the White House Christmas Cards.
For his final Christmas in office, the president sent a greeting card that included a verse from the Gospel of Matthew.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven,” the card read.
Palin said the majority of Americans can appreciate the more traditional, “American foundational values illustrated and displayed on Christmas cards and on a Christmas tree.”
As for the Obama card, she replied, “It’s just a different way of thinking coming out of the White House.”

Why is this considered "news worthy"?
Because our grandmothers need to get their Two Minute Hate in.
Patrick McGillicuddy Murphy now thats funny
To extend Sarah Palin's 15 minutes just a weeee bit more.
Honestly, we've heard more than we care to know from her. Why can't we hear from intelligent Conservative women (Olympia Snowe comes to mind – not that I agree with her, but she would be more interesting).
Did anyone else notice that everyone here who thinks Obama is a Muslim is white and has wrinkles? Oh, and I love those of you who cite YOUTUBE as a credible source for your claims. What's next, Wikipedia?
Wikipedia is at least required to provide sources.
Patrick McGillicuddy Murphy does that mean you personally check their validity every time you cite them? Anyone can post on Wiki, that's a known fact. It's also a known fact that not everything on it is correct. Don't be fooled.
Paige Six it is a little known fact that those that don't have sources are bannered as such and eventually pulled. I frequently like to go to the sources (when links are provided). And have you ever posted anything on Wikipedia? I have.
Feloneous Cat yes, and I had a professor who intentionally posted false statements on wiki just to prove that it wouldn't be taken down about an asteroid hitting our campus. It remained published for almost 3 years.
Lot of Godless people very upset here and calling names and flailing about — because they feel guilty!
I do feel guilty for continuously calling you stupid, but you are.
Lot of Godless people very upset here and calling names and flailing about — because they feel guilty!
This issue is totally ridiculous! I guess those of you who agree with bashing President Obama for his holiday card, haven't see those of George Bush when he was president, or Reagan, etc. NONE of them said "Merry Christmas" or had Christmas trees. Why weren't you outraged then? In 2005 Bush's card said "With best wishes for a holiday season of hope and happiness." And there was a image of the front of the White House in snow, a tree (not a Christmas tree) and, oh no….not one, but TWO of the Bush's dogs!

it is scary how ignorant some of you folks are.
What is your religion Gordon? This will tell us something I'm sure — if you would please.
What is your religion Gordon? This will tell us something I'm sure — if you would please.
Amy March Weaver How many time did Christ celebrate Christmas? This will tell us something, I'm sure. If you would, please…
Every single one! Course that isn't the answer to my question which should come from Gordon.
Amy March Weaver I'm Catholic, and you're stupid
Amy March Weaver You're hateful and ignorant!
Amy March Weaver why do you keep asking what religion people are, are you looking for a new one?
Amy March Weaver Why won't you address the question about Bush and Reagan's cards? If you truly wanted to have an honest discussion. It is weird.
Here's the difference Maureen. I think it makes Christians upset that Obama even sends out Christmas cards because he is not Christian and the card is not a Christmas card but rather just a greeting. He says he is Christian but that is because a majority of the population in this country identify as Christian. He needs to fit in. But we know that he is not Christian. That why the Godless, non-Christians love him so much. The atheists, the gays, the illegals — all love him. They know that he approves of what they are doing. You lefties, or whatever you are, keep saying the same things over and over and it just isn't convincing at all. So we have to say the same things over and over. Christmas should be called Christmas, a Christmas tree should be called a Christmas tree and the President sent out Christmas cards even though it had no reference to Christmas, nor did it have on it any Christmas symbols. Let's say he sent out a Happy Hanukkah card and everyone knew that was it was supposed to be that but it had some puppies dogs on it running through a field and it said, 'hey, how ya doing?' It would seem odd to you I know it would, but you don't see this as odd because evidently you hate Christians. You say this is totally ridiculous and it is —- completely ridiculous that Godless people are trying to hijack Christmas — rename everything. It is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!
Amy March Weaver & Everyone on here that questions the faith of Obama or anyone else for that matter, with the intent to misinform for subversive reasons or for the advancement of an agenda, therefore stands in judgment of another. With this the guilty actor does so in strict violation of your so-called God’s laws set forth in the 10 commandments.
Sin is sin, and your subversive tactics to misinform and prey on the uneducated and weak minded, i.e. disposable souls, is further proof that you are presenting yourself as a false prophet. After you depart this world and your savior sends you to me after being rejected for being a pious, judgmental and hypocritical, I will show no mercy on your souls!
In fact I welcome and look forward too many of you obese, uneducated types you tend to burn longer and hotter!
The world you're imagining is not real. The events that worry you are not occurring. The real tragedy is you believing the small, manipulative minds that spread this poison. The truth is much more complicated and difficult. But you still, with God's Love, should attempt to grasp it, no matter how frightening admitting that you've been wrong is.
You are picking on a Christmas card? Really! You guys have forgotten what Christmas is all about, you have forgotten the teaching of Jesus, you have forgotten what it is to be a good neighbor, and you embarrass the United States of American in the eyes of our world. We are suppose to be better than this. We were suppose to be the country that upheld rights, freedoms, and strive to bring democracy and justice to this planet. We were once proud and now we bicker as if we are children; we are a childish and sad generation. My Christmas wish is that our children learn from our failures and move this country forward for the good of our plant; our gift from God. – We should all hang our heads in shame.
Does the President have a right to send a card that says 'Merry Christmas'?
Does the President have a right to send a card that says 'Merry Christmas'?
So, Jabba the Hut's little brother, Roger Ailes, really had to scrape the bottom of the Fox trough to come up with THIS line of attack against the President. Way to go Roger, you worthless no-necked, scum-sucking POS. You are hands down the lowest life form on this planet.
Sarah "Quitter" Palin is a damn close second. I hope that bitch chokes on her ratty assed wig. It must KILL her that as obsessed as she is with President Obama, he doesn't give her a second thought. As many times as she thinks about him, talks about him, and blames him for her problems…she doesn't even cross his mind for an instant.
So why don't you shut the hell up Sarah and get back on your knees under Roger's desk.
And if anyone else is so damn concerned about a card that he probably didn't even SEE, then your hatred of this President has made you butt blind & retarded.
First of all Valerie even if he were a Muslim (which he is not). There is nothing in the constitution that says the president must be a Christian. The great thing about this country is even if he was a Muslim ( which he is not 'not that theirs anything wrong with that') you and I could still practice whatever religion we want and our right to do so would be protected. You see he is the president of the United States not just Christians and this president had enough for thought to know that and be sensitive to that. Also look at some of the past president's Holiday cards in recent years guess what… No Signs of Christmas. Why are we only noticing this with Obama (could it be the color of his skin). By the way you say he is spending 4 million dollars on Chrstmas vacation. Really..do you really think his vacation will cost $4 million and If he is Muslim (which he is not) I guess it's not a Christmas break now is Valerie. Although I think your statement is rediculous and hateful I am glad to live in a country that allows even the rediculous to be heard. Hmmm I wonder how long it will take for someone to call me the n-word. Begin the count down….

Conservatives, tell me, what the HELL is your problem?
President Obama ordered the hit on Somali Pirates, and you weren't happy.
He ordered the SEALS to go to Pakistan and put a PERMANENT END to Osama Bin Laden, and you want to give "Dubya" the credit.
He ordered the UAV strike on the American Taliban terrorist, Anwar Al Awlaki, and you bitched and moaned.
The governments in Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya were overthrown with LITTLE-TO-NO U.S involvement, and you went ape shit.
He gave a speech commemorating Ramadan, and you blew a gasket.
He held a Hanukkah celebration at the White House, and you had a conniption fit.
NOW, YOU WANT TO CONDEMN THE OBAMA'S FOR CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS WITH TOO MUCH ENTHUSIASM AND/OR NOT MENTIONING CHRISTMAS ON SOME DAMN CHRISTMAS CARD?
This is SUPPOSED to be the time when we celebrate the life of a child who grew up and later in life, died for our sins.
This is SUPPOSED to be the time when most of ask for, aside from presents, peace on Earth and goodwill toward our fellow man.
This is SUPPOSED to be the time when compassion, benevolence, and good cheer OVER-RIDES our self serving nature towards one another.
No one is oblivious to the fact that MANY OF US are suffering during these tough economic times, but I would like to think that there is AT LEAST one shred of humanity and dignity left within you, especially during the Holiday season.
Is that too much to ask from you Conservatives?
Hey nick wright, yes your name does not deserve anymore then that, why not fly you and your friends on a one way ticket to anywhere you think is best? Stop trying to screw up our US of A P U N K.
President Bush also had a dogs and snowy White House Christmas Card, and Reagan had White House scenes, no Christmas. Can we expect Ms. Palin to come out with an outraged statement about Bush and Reagan? Or must special rules always apply to Obama (like supporting tax cuts unless he does).
Personnally I think that Obama is encompassing all Americans in his card, not just Christians… Recognizing where we came from and where we need to get back.
And to Karen H. a Christmas card from your friend means whatever. A Christmas card from the President of the United States of America should damn well mention Christmas Jesus(it was His Birthday) and while you are a very pretty lady it still amazes me how that higher learning still does not produce common sense and most often plain ignorance. God matters Karen and we will keep teaching our children about Jesus! So get over it! All of you 1/10 of a percent.. by the way can't wait for the replys! lol Merry Christmas everyone!
December 25th is the birthday of Sol Invictus, a Roman god popular during the 100s AD. Jesus, if he did exist, was actually born in mid-April.
who cares, there's no menorah either. Not everything is about you christians/GOP.
Mr Kendel, Christmas IS ALL Christians. Of course there is no Menorah. President Obama has nothing but disdain for the Jewish folks, and the traditions of America. What holiday does the WH Holiday card recognize if Not Christmas and Hannaka (sp)? And so therefore logic would dictate some iconic symbol of both these celebrations would be evident, otherwise, what is the point of a Holiday card? The current holiday is Christmas / Hannaka(sp). Dec 31st is known as New Years Eve, Feb 14th, Valentines Day, etc,
and this month- Christmas and Hannaka (sp). And so it goes. Celebrate or not, is your choice, and that is what freedom is all about. Thank a soldier, and have a Merry Christmas or Hannaka (sp). And if you do not celebrate either, then have a nice day. All the best!
There are a couple. Kwanzaa is another holiday celebrated in the black community. Then there's the Winter Solstice. I think it's as politically correct as you can get to express "Seasons Greetings" at this time of year rather than Merry Christmas which may have been what previous cards from the White House have expessed. It's more inclusive and may even be less offensive to those who don't celebrate holidays at all.
Kelli Berry Why thank a soldier? What a creepy message. Do something better, help out a food bank. Give to Blue Santa. A soldier's job is the antithesis of all major religions: to kill other human beings. To believe otherwise is just PR.
Love, rebirth, world peace. Those are what we should be thinking now…
excellent points Loretta Love Huff and Feloneous Cat(great name btw) however i would like to raise one point of my own regarding soldiers… i'm am not pro-war by any means but often times "soldiers" are a countries very poor with no other opportunities to advance or make a decent life. so they sign up to gain skills or get an education not having to pay for rent or food and saving up their pay checks. they are viewed as expendable to the industrial military complex only concerned with further profit. but i do understand exactly what you were saying Feloneous Cat!!! and i'm all the Solstice and helping at Food Banks!! hah it's also very humorous that this is being posted to "Todd Starnes" at fox news!

Yet, somehow, people who think it is ok for people to die because they can not afford health care, are christians? Republicans, claiming you are christian while acting out your greed and power hungry agenda where money is the only thing that matters, THAT is what is causing people to turn their back to and start hating christianity. Start acting like christians and stop worrying so much about what others do and start looking yourself in the mirror.
I thought that the Xmas card was beautiful. I saw many cards from previous Presidents. From the Bushes to Reagan the cards were similar. What the problem?

As a 'cat person' I am personally offended that there wasn't any mention of cats, either Obama's cat or someone else's cat. And if Obama doesn't have a cat, why? What does the President have against cats? THAT's the issue.
ALSO: I don't see any egg nog and 'seasonal holiday' cookies that Jesus usually eats after He comes down the chimney.
As a "cat person" I think about yarn, birds flitting by, and the occasional yummy treat (chocolate in my case).
FLIP FLOP TIME: actually, I'm a dog person, and as such I understand the symbolism of 'the dog by the fireplace' as meaning loyalty to hearth and home.
IN TRUTH I'm both a cat and dog person. I appreciate that cats and dogs don't necessarily get along well, but given time and understanding 'cats and dogs are in this together' and they (cats and dogs) can come to a mutually agreeable position, viz a viz 'who gets to sleep on the couch THIS time.' But given the state of things as they are now, I'm more inclined to support dogs than cats.
One can only hope that in the not too distant future dems and reps will take a lesson from dogs and cats and learn to cohabit in their houses without rancor. One can only hope.
I'm quite capable of getting along with Republicans. I had a very good friend who was Republican. One day I revealed I was a liberal and his jaw dropped. "But.. but… YOU HAVE A BUSINESS"… well, yeah, and?

"Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. 20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. 21 So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled."
-Ezekiel 23:19-21
Merry Christmas to All.
Love, The Bush Administration.
Hey Paige. Thanks for that text. Of course we need the complete story right. Here is the ending verse of that chapter:
-Ezekiel 23: 48-49:
“So I will put an end to lewdness in the land, that all women may take warning and not imitate you. 49 You will suffer the penalty for your lewdness and bear the consequences of your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.”
Oops — you left out the most important parts of the story (as the unGodly often do). That was a story of two adulterous sisters and what happened to them. They didn't have a good end. I hope you start surrounding yourself with better people than you have so far in your life!! You are believing lies. Not good — in fact that is the biggest tool in the box that our enemy has. The enemy of your soul is speaking to you and you are listening and doing what the enemy wants you to do. Think about it and pray to God and ask him to open your eyes. It is the difference between life and death — who you follow, who you listen to.

Amy March Weaver sweetie, that's not the point. The word of God is the word of God, no matter how you read it right? I'm just employing Fox News tactics. Get it?
Your point didn't work out with me at all. You transparent people are so fun.
Your point didn't work out with me at all. You transparent people are so fun.
Amy March Weaver As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. … Romans 14:1-23
Paige: Are you a Christian?
Amy March Weaver Did you forget that one, or is it just too fun to take out your prejudices openly on the internet?
Amy March Weaver Did you forget that one, or is it just too fun to take out your prejudices openly on the internet?
"if this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we've got to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that he commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition; and then admit that we just don't want to do it."-Cobert. I am a Christian, but that doesn't need to make me a conservative.
Paige hasn't shown her prejudice at all! ____ NO!! LOL! So you can't answer my question? Yes, I agree we are arguing over opinions and so are probably going against the advice and spirit of that text. However, that text is saying …. "welcome him…" which means the person the text is referring to is a new Christian. New Christians do need support and encouragement. Like a toddler, who we encourage on and know that they fall often until they get stronger…. So, again …. you take scripture out of context repeatedly and thereby show both your ignorance and your disdain for God and the Word of God. I think I know the answer to the question I asked as to whether are you a Christian. Just wanted you to admit, but of course you don't want to — it would be too revealing.
Amy March Weaver I answered your question before you answered mine. And my "prejudice" is showing how ridiculous it is to pick a war on Christmas, and make false statements about a president's religion, because his holiday card wasn't traditional enough. Please, God gave us free will for a reason. Jesus told us to love unconditionally for a reason. Why, because that is how you welcome people. You will gather people to your belief through love, not by indoctrinating them as toddlers, or criticizing them as adults. I became a Christian by choice, because of the scripture, I wasn't raised as one. Does that make me any less a Christian? I don't think so, but then again, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
Paige sweetie. I have always enjoyed debate and yes, I am prejudiced in favor of the Christian way, prejudiced in favor of Jesus Christ, prejudiced that the Word of God is truth. The Word of God is the guide, the rule that we Christians live by. Of course we aren't perfect, even though you unGodly think we are or should be. If we could possibly reach perfection here on our own then Jesus Christ's coming here would have been unnecessary. Remember — you are living on borrowed time. A period of grace that will end at some point. Be careful!
You too.
You too.
Why does it matter they didnt mention christmas? I thought church and state were "supposed" to be seperate?
Unless you refresh the page often you don't see answers right away. So don't ridicule for that. You really seem to be on the attack against Christians and misquote scripture. Seems quite suspect to me.
Amy March Weaver i answered 2 minutes before you posted your comment. Was that not fast enough for you? I guess not. Then again, you suspect the president is a muslim, so I'll take that for what it's worth.
Katerina — the phrase 'separation of church and state' isn't anywhere in the Constitution. Now, it is generally accepted that our government shouldn't impose a religion on people — (I do think it will happen here but it won't be the Christian religion. The Christian religion doesn't force, Islamists force however). In fact, our founding fathers' ancestors came to this continent to escape state-enforced religion. More importantly than this Katerina, is that we, in this country, have freedom of expression, and freedom to practice our religion. So you do admit don't you, that Obama, if he is a Christian, is free to send a card that says 'Merry Christmas' if he wanted to? Would you admit that? Obama has repeatedly indicated that he is something other than Christian. I, for one, do not want an Islamist as my President. This is what we are most alarmed about. We really don't think he is a Christian, even though he says he is. He is not telling the truth about a lot of things. The 'one' who said he wants to be transparent is just the opposite. 76% of this country still identify as being a Christian and he knows he has to state that he is Christian. But actions speak louder than words! We see the repressive regimes that have Islamists at the helm. We don't want that for our country. This is really more to the point of what we have against this imposter in the White House. People know — people are very smart even though some in government think we aren't. We know!
Amy March Weaver you poor woman. Your a victim of this fear mongering rubbish that there is a threat to our faith. I thought our God was bigger than that. Oh he is, so even if we did have a muslim, or pagan, or atheist president, I still wouldn't care, because his religion should not be the center of his politics. Rather it should be his voting record, and how often he keeps his promises (or attempts to against congress and the legislative branches.) But that's just common sense.
I'm sorry I meant you're*
Amy March Weaver still stupid I see
Paige Six — You are naive. I'd rather have smarts than money (actually I'm not poor at all). You are right that religion SHOULDN'T be at the center of the President's politics. However, that is indeed the case in repressive, religious regimes that we find around the world. Regimes in which the people are persecuted if their religion doesn't match what the leader of the regime wants. Yes, God is bigger than all this. And there is not a threat to my faith (faith is an individual thing if you didn't know). The fear-mongering is all around but don't fall prey to that. And you shouldn't be fearful but you should care (you said above that you didn't care what your President was like). That is VERY naive! At some point there may not be voting and even now there is a lot of fraud in this country with the voting, with legislation, with nearly every facet of our society. You seem to be living in a dream world — another reason I question your cognizance; and more importantly, your sincerity. The people that think the way you do have things backwards. The President, being able to express his faith, but allowing other people to have their own faith, is what we DO want. A regime that forces people to adhere to a certain ideology or religion is what we DO NOT want. We want President Obama to actually express his faith, to let us know what it really is. But he is playing games, trying to hide. Yes, that is what he is doing. And, I'm sorry for you if you don't have discernment. Pray for that. You say you are a Christian but I'm not feeling it at all from you. Or, perhaps you are a new Christian and just don't get it yet. If so, I'm sorry. You seem to be falling for lies. The lies from the enemy are harder to see, the fear-mongering rubbish you speak of is easy for anyone to see, other things not so easy.
Steve Brown Not to mention that many of our founding fathers were blatant atheists. But don't mind me, I only have a BA in American Historical Studies.
A lot of people would say that Revelation (in the Bible) has a lot of 'fear-mongering rubbish' in it. Unbelievers would say that. The use of buzz words by your types really pinpoints where you stand. How you put the scriptures out there with the sexual content without providing the complete story behind it; the adulterous women whom God brought to judgment …….. that kind of thing Paige, it exposes you.
Amy March Weaver I'm not naive, I'm just more afraid of American's being religiously intolerant than I am of a "Islamist" being president. I have faith in our checks and balances. I let facts and the way a person acts allow me to judge them, not what umbrella of religion or race they fall under. The facts are available, and the facts show that you are wrong.
@Amy March Weaver For the record, I have had a great, great deal of pre-marital, marital, and post-marital sex. How many years do you think I'll have to serve in hell?
Oh, and my 12-year-old daughter was born OUT OF WEDLOCK. How long will she have to serve under Satan?
(I love how staunch Christians are usually the meanest sons-of-bitches around.)
Amy March Weaver Oh please, your argument is weak. Like I said, I was employing typical fox news tactics. They take things out of context all the time, for the sake of making "God fearing" people like yourself believe things like, that he is a fascist, or an islamist, or a communist. All of which, he cannot be at once. You're so lost I almost feel bad for you.
Not sure Aaron. I've heard that hell is everlasting. But God knows all. It's quite amazing how hateful you all are and then you think your little 'sweeties'. LOL!
Amy March Weaver Also, in Matthew 25:41, the "everlasting fire" is prepared for the devil and his angles, and not prepared by the devil and his angels). The fire and brimstone destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, and turned them into ashes (Gen.19:24). Sodom and Gomorrah was an example of what would happen to the wicked (Luke 17:29-30, 2 Peter 2:6, Jude 1:7). We know that God did not remove Sodom and Gomorrah to burn them somewhere else because Abraham could see the smoke going up "as the smoke of a furnace" (Genesis 19:28). The cities are not burning today because when everything was burned and turned into ashes, the fire, having no fuel left, went out. Another example of "everlasting destruction" (2 Thes.1:9) is; once a match is burned, it is destroyed forever, but is not being forever destroyed. The phrase "eternal torment" does not appear in the Bible.
@Amy March Weaver "Not sure Aaron. I've heard that hell is everlasting. But God knows all. It's quite amazing how hateful you all are and then you think your little 'sweeties'. LOL!"
One thing is for sure: I know the difference between you're and your. Do you?
and for the record, I've said nothing "hateful".
Aaron Mrthursdaynight Fenzi I think it's just something with this page, before you know it I'm going to start typing things like "There great them Chirtins!"
@Paige Six I'll follow that with "Ur goin ta hell, dagnubbit."
I don't recall saying anything hateful, either. I can, however, say MANY hateful things.
Aaron Mrthursdaynight Fenzi I guess facts about the bible and legitimate translations and popular thought is just loaded with hate. The idea of acceptance, and "s_x", and slavery are dirty words and thoughts, and are full of hate. However, did you know, that people used the bible as a platform for how and why it was their God given right to hold black people as slaves during the civil war, and how it said in the bible the black men were below the white man, as it says in the bible during the Civil Rights movement. The KKK uses it today. And now, even democratically elected Islamists around the world, are a threat to Americans, because they just resent our freedom and Christianity. Or at least that's what Fox news taught me. It makes me sick.
Paige Six you may have a BA in history, but Amy was there when the history was being made…I might have to agree with her on what the founding fathers intended.
Steve Brown They intended a land free of religious persecution. You need to take into consideration the times also. It wouldn't have been in vogue to say you don't believe in God outright back then, and heretical if you didn't thank him. But take Ben Franklin for example, who didn't go to church, or Jesus as his lord and savior. Many of our founding fathers wanted to establish a government not sanctioned under God, but for freedom, with equality. Like now, there are many who were deeply divided on key issues, such as slavery. But even if you trace our history back to the 'A House on a Hill' speech given on route to America, and see the actions of the men that followed, well then they were no more Christian than Gingrich and his 3 wives.
@Steve Brown Amy certainly looks like she was around when the Constitution was signed.
Aaron Mrthursdaynight Fenzi that was mean, but funny. And I can't say after all her sarcasm that she didn't deserve it.
@Paige Six You know what? I'd probably still sleep with her. How sick am I?
@Paige Six You know what? I'd probably still sleep with her. How sick am I?
Aaron Mrthursdaynight Fenzi very…but if you must..grab the Pledge
Amy March Weaver Do you know where you husband is? How far away is the titi bar?
Kiki — I'm sorry you've had a tough time with relationships. Wow, you guys are all hilarious! This whole thing has really got you in a tizzy! Maybe we better go do some shopping, cleaning and baking. I'm down to the baking part — sure don't have time for ya'll right now. By the way I love God and Jesus Christ is my Savior. I wish you all a Merry Christmas! Two days til Christmas!!
Amy March Weaver Whatever lets you sleep better at night.
This is a top story? Shame on you FOX News. I'm disappointed that American politics has come down to nit-picking on something so ridiculous as this.
It's not a top story but definitely a story. Godless people (which could include you) are sure interested in it!!
Amy March Weaver How do you know that Gina Park is a "godless" person? I find that a bit rude for someone to say to a stranger.
Kelly Calder I said it could include her. I referred to godless people, and their numbers are multiplying, and I said it could include her. And it could not. I don't know. Don't put words in my mouth. Everyone is being rude here — including you; so don't get on a high-horse!
Amy March Weaver the only thing that should be put in your mouth is a sock…maybe while one of the Chili Peppers is still wearing it.
Amy March Weaver Oh I'M on a high horse?! Well if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. This is your exact statement: "Godless people (which could include you)…why would you even say "could" if you don't know? I'm not being rude. I'm not ridiculing people. You are. Gina had a point. It's not news. Well only on Fox.
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/chuck-norris/2011/12/20/feds-war-religion-part-1-2
This sounds suspiciously like Todd Starnes fronting as Chuck Norris. — But unlike the famed Chuck Norris quotes, he's not as scary as people want him to seem. Chuck Norris is wrong about the "war on religion" or more specifically "war on Christians" because Christians seem to think it's all about them. You don't hear other religions complain about Happy Holidays. There's Chanukah in December. There's Kwanzaa. Who knows what else there is. Other religions don't get mad that their celebrations aren't blasted all over the media. I don't hear Muslims complain who live in the US that there aren't "Ramadan" sales or "Ashura countdowns." Yes I'm being a bit glib or whatever word you want to use but I'm tired of hearing of this fictional "war on Christians." There is no war. http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/editorials/2006-03-26-religion_x.htm http://www.politicususa.com/en/war-on-christmas-christians — I mean the last article brings up a great example with Rick Perry's most recent ad where he states the following: “I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a Christian. But you don’t have to be in the pew every Sunday to know that there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military, but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school. As president, I’ll end Obama’s war on religion, and I’ll fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage.” – I'm sorry I don't think I want a President who says things like "You know something's wrong when gays can serve openly in the military but…" What's wrong with that? Way to support what could (not really since he has no chance) be your troops? There's no war – everything's a "war" to the right or to Christians.
Yes, there is Kelly. That is why there is such division among us right here. Very strong feelings from so many people against Christians. There is much discussion about discrimination towards other groups but the discrimination against Christians is just exploding, but denial about that is happening at the same time. There is a war on Christians and everything 'Christian'.
John 15:18-21:
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you… If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you… because they do not know Him who sent Me. John 15: 18-21
So, do you have some strong feelings against Christians? It is apparent that you do. So what is that about?
Amy March Weaver I just don't like ANY organized religion. IMO – they're all bullshit because they basically just all stole from one another AND from past beliefs. Thousands of years ago it "made sense" to believe in gods and goddesses. Now we call those "myths." It seems that as science explains events and natural occurrences, religion morphs along with it. Who knows? Maybe in another couple thousand years, today's religions will be "myths." I wouldn't be surprised at all. I don't have a problem with REAL Christians. I have a problem with people who claim to be Christians but who are bigoted, ignorant people who USE the religion to do awful things and abuse people and their beliefs. There is no war on Christians in America. If you want to see REAL religious persecution look into the world in other countries where Christians REALLY get persecuted. Or Muslims. Or Jews. Or other religions. Most people in America today (who did not immigrate here but have lived here) don't have any idea what persecution is. Persecution is what happened to blacks and other minorities for centuries in this country. Persecution is how women were treated. Persecution is how homosexuals have been treated. Using "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" is not persecution.
Amy March Weaver I love Christians, and dislike dumazzes..guess how I feel about you.
Seems the most godless, hateful, mean and ignorant person here is Amy Weaver…
I thought the meaning of being a leader comes from NOT being lead by others? He had controversy surrounding him from the beginning on religious affiliations. I, for one, have not viewed many news coverages about his faith, worship, and so on since being elected. I do not want to see anyone in a negative light yet the worst negativity of his tenure is a clear role of non leadership.
Obama does have a right to say 'Merry Christmas' on his card. Or, to quote scripture on his card,…. doesn't he? Who says he does have that right and who would say he doesn't? What would have happened if Obama had of put 'Merry Christmas' on his card? Think about it!
dumazzes like you would still say he's Muslim
Amy what a great point if he would of had Merry Christmas on the card. So now I know he is counting votes. But at this point COUNTING will not help THANK GOD. And the guy Steve thats who he is a NAME CALLER.
Bill Randell Jr. just calling like I see them..dumazz
Something that is quite amazing to me is how people, here included, will go on the attack against Christians, ridicule Christian symbols and holidays, will misquote scripture, etc…. then turn around and try to say they are Christian. It is quite perplexing…. but transparent.
You haters wear your ignorance like a badge. Apparantly you'd prefer to see presents under a pagan tree than under a poinsettia, which came to represent Christmas through a Mexican legend wherein a poor child gathered weeds from the side of the road to place at the alter on Christmas Eve. As the congregation witnessed a Christmas miracle, the weeds turned into brilliant red and green flowers.
You'd rather suggest the president is somehow breaking with our traditions when, in fact, the vast majority of presidential cards have generically referred to "the holidays" (since non-christians will get them too) and have not included images of the first family (lest they be accused of self aggrandizement or "politicizing" the holiday.
Thank God we'll never see a classy card from the Palin White House. it would either be Ziggy putting an angel atop the tree or a family portrait with Todd in his snow machine racing suit and all the women modelling the latest in maternity wear.

There's no sense in arguing wtin Feloneous Cat because as a typical liberal the facts don't matter and truth is abstract. She's living in her own little fantasy world, and demonstrates it perfectly by her lack of any real content on her FB site. It's all cartoonish fantasy crap, It's really hard to take someone like that seriously. When she wants to actually know about the truth, she'll pull her little head out and dig deeper than the BS liberal media propaganda machines. Until then… whatever she says just strengthens my point.
you're stupid
Steve Brown Steve Brown Steve knows no other way. LMAO just look and you will see he is a NAME CALLER, NO FACTS and POOR results leads to name calling. LMAO Steve check this link out, Obama requiring a cross to be covered before he would speak. SO THERE IS A WAR http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/04/obama-notre-dame-georgetown.html
After this i will not even read what you post, but once again MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY NEW YEAR, and THANK GOD FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU OTHER WISE LIFE WOULD BE BORING.
Bill Randell Jr. you're still stupid…and you're life prolly is boring…dont worry..it will prolly end soon..hate rots a man from the inside.
Another instance of the Fox 'News' war against the non-war against Christmas. Look up some history you right-wing nuts and tell me why Christmas is on the day it is on, why there is a fir tree and what Black Friday has to do with the whole thing. It's turned into a complete fiasco instead of a holy day that true Christians should be celebrating at church or in the privacy of their own homes.
I'm unsure why "they" are making this an issue. I don't find it "politically correct" given our country is based on religious freedom. I see it wishing all Americans happy holidays (Hanakkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, etc.) — because not every American has the same religious beliefs. Plus it doesn't offend me if someone wishes me Happy Holidays because I'm secure within my own skin and beliefs to be offended….on a side note: I doubt Jesus would be caught in a local Wallyworld purchasing tube socks for his dad for his own birthday. Hello.
*not* to be offended, Gees stupid smartphone. LOL
For those of you who are pointing out other presidents Christmas cards well that's fine. But did any of them REQUIRED a cross to be covered before they would speak. the answer is NO, but YOUR MAN OBAMA DID. That's why the war on Chridstmas is so bad HE leads the PACK.
I attached the link.

Bill: I see you're still stupid as well.
I think I have some tin foil lying around… will that help?
And your???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Bill Randell Jr. my what??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Steve Brown You called me stupid, my question was AND YOUR____________________. If you don't get what I'm saying let me know,.
Bill Randell Jr. my________________? I dont get it.
I have a card from Reagan and one from Bush neither one have anything Christian on the card, they are both pictures of the White House. Neither one have a Christmas tree.
You do realize Christmas is not the only holiday at the end of the year. Would you prefer they send out a different card for every holiday at the end of the year.
This is just another part of the conservative narrative: the myth that Christmas, and therefore religion, is constantly under attack by the forces of godless socialism. I'm sure neither the author of this article, nor anyone at the Fox News propaganda machine, actually believe any of the stuff. And the GOP politicians you all vote for don't believe it either. The only god you Teabaggers worship is Ayn Rand; you are all social darwinists, about as far from the teachings of Jesus as one can possibly get.
Absolutely if *I* wanted to show exactly how much Christmas means I would have a crd with a fox roasting a peacock NOTHING says Christianity more than…oh wait… never mind Faux news.
Ugh. I hate Republicans and their ridiculous belief that religion somehow belongs in government. What the hell happened to the separation of church and state? I think it is time to re-divide the US. half for the religious zealots and half for those of us who aren't sheep who blindly follow a big book that might as well been written by Dr. Suess.
You 'hate' — interesting. That is what needs to stop. And you will agree with me, won't you, that Obama is FREE to send out a card with references to Christ, to Christmas, and even with scriptures on it if he so desires. I honor his right to do that — DO YOU? Just curious. Yes, he chose not to because this is a free country, just as he could have chosen to do that very thing, because this is a free country. From the sounds of you, it would appear that you would like to have a totalitarian regime where only your sense of morality is imposed. I would hate to live there!! Your own self is your downfall! Follow yourself and see where that gets you.
Actually Sarah isn't concerned about the card. Her party lost the election in 2008, and this is merely another ad homine jab that shows why she is incapable of mature, responsible leadership. Except maybe for a beauty pageant.
A beauty pageant she lost, don't forget.
Has anybody seen the FOX holiday cards? Seriously, the manufactured outrage is hilarious.
Kind of like Ron Paul and his CNN rant
Reagan and Bush both had cards that didn't include a Christmas tree (just scenes from the White House, exactly like this one). So, that's ok, but when Obama does the same exact same thing, it's "odd?" Give me a break. This is a non-issue, a made-up controversy to stir up resentment among the "well informed" Fox News followers.
But did any of them require a cross to be covered before they would speak at a catholic university??
I guess we need to just let these people rant. I feel like I poked the beast big time. Or the snake, whatever way you want to put it. They so want Christmas to go away and probably for Christians to go away but it ain't gonna happen. I think what bothers a lot of folks, who love Christmas and all that it represents, is that this particular President seems and smells phoney — and I really think he is. I so hope he gets fired soon!! I get Christmas cards with just 'Joy To the World' on it or something and I don't mind. But this President just bugs me — everything he does. And yes, like you said, he covered the cross — it offends him most likely. Like it offends a lot of people on here. I have called a lot of these people on this thread 'godless', and it appears that a lot of them are!! I don't know individually if they are, but I would guess from these comments that 80% of these people are not Christians and hate Christians — maybe more. That's sure what it feels like to me. I'm getting out of Dodge. Fox needs to shut this puppy down. These people are rabid.
There are SO many holidays happening right now that Happy Holidays IS most appropriate! And the card DOES say that, so "Happy Holidays" one and all, whichever (if any) holiday you observe!
BTW..Todd..you're stupid too.
Check out the Fox News "Christmas Card". Merry whatever, sheeple.
http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-12-20/news/30537210_1_fox-sleighs-snowbank
Absolute idiocy–wft is wrong with you people at Fox?
HOW DARE YOU TODD! AND SHAME ON YOU FOX NEWS!
Reading these comments proves the point: http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2011/11/21/fox-news-viewers-uninformed-npr-listeners-not-poll-suggests/.
Wow. There sure are a lot of crazy conservative women following this reporter and this story. I love Sarah Palin. She is the most laughable dumb angry white woman in the media. Keep it coming, Sarah; we love it!
Happy Birthday Jesus Santa Claus Christ!
Maybe, now this is just conjecture here, but maybe families sending Christmas cards don't give a s%*t if they please the morons at Fox News.
I have lots of friends and family that celebrate different holidays, so when I choose my card, I choose one that encompasses all my friends and family. I don't want it to say Merry Christmas. I may send it to a friend for Hannukah. I don't want it to say Happy Hannukah. I may send it to a friend for Kwanza. I am sure I am not the only one that has friends and family of different faiths and beliefs. Get over it, people!
