Students at UConn rioted last night in the aftermath of their NCAA national championship.
Police say hundreds of students took to the streets – the Muffys and Dirks of the world – trying to get their street cred by pillaging and plundering. It was sort of a clam bake gone wild.
The student union building was ransacked. Public property was destroyed. Young people hurled IKEA furniture over one of those environmentally friendly cars.
Apparently that’s what constitutes a rip-roaring good time these days — tearing up other people’s stuff.
Had I tried something like that when I was in school, my dad would’ve been there the next day hauling my rear-end back home. Trust me, the school would not have been the only thing torn up.
That was old school parenting. We could use some more old school parents.
