I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN COLORADO LAST WEEK.
AND I’M TROUBLED.
THE NATION SEEMS TO HAVE LOST ITS MORAL COMPASS.
WE LIVE IN A CULTURE THAT CELEBRATES VIOLENCE AND DEATH.
OUR MOVIES – OUR MUSIC – OUR GAMES -
WE ARE NATION THAT TAKES PLEASURE IN PAIN AND SUFFERING.
WE EXPOSE OUR CHILDREN TO EVIL – AND SEEM SURPRISED WHEN THERE ARE REPERCUSSIONS.
MAKE NO MISTAKE – THE ONLY PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENED
IN COLORADO – IS THE GUNMAN.
BUT YOU CAN BE SURE THAT POLITICANS WILL CALL FOR GUN CONTROL.
OTHERS WILL CALL FOR A NATIONAL SOUL SEARCHING.
BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY –
I DOUBT ANYTHING WILL CHANGE.
THE SHOOTING IN COLORADO WILL BECOME A DISTANT MEMORY.
MUCH LIKE COLUMBINE – AND VIRGINIA TECH – AND FORT HOOD.
UNTIL ANOTHER DAY COMES – WHEN A YOUNG PERSON DRESSED IN BLACK
PUTS ON A MASK — AND UNLEASHES HELLISH DEMONS.

You're right that nothing will change. We'll just learn to live with it like we always do. That's because Americans are magical (delusional) thinkers who avoid the root causes of incidents like these. We make guns widely available — J. Holmes bought his guns and ammo legally — far beyond any type of sporting application, we leave health care (especially mental health care) as a commodity to be bought and sold rather than a benefit to our national overall well being, and we think that an invisible deity in the sky will protect us via our own personal angels. Similar delusional thinking leads people to overeat bad quality food and think they'll never get diabetes nor need a heart bypass when their arteries are clogged. It's gotta be a bitter experience to find out none of those delusions are true.
The politicians, the anti 2nd and other gun control people are going to be calling on the banning of some of these weapons if not all. Say for instance if all guns are banned, people will find other ways to kill whether with knives, axe, bat, steel pipe or a car. Then what's next? Do we ban all these as well? Do we cut our hands off , because individuals have been known to kill with them too. Taking away some or banning all guns will solve nothing as people will always find ways to kill.
