A Washington college said their non-discrimination policy prevents them from stopping a transgender man from exposing himself to young girls inside a women’s locker room, according to a group of concerned parents.

“Little girls should not be exposed to naked men, period,” said David Hacker, senior legal counsel with the Alliance Defending Freedom. A group of concerned parents contacted the legal firm for help.
Hacker said a 45-year-old male student, who dresses as a woman and goes by the name Colleen Francis, undressed and exposed his genitals on several occasions inside the woman’s locker room at Evergreen State College.
Students from nearby Olympia High School as well as children at a local swimming club share locker rooms with the college.
According to a police report, the mother of a 17-year-old girl complained after her daughter saw the transgender individual walking naked in the locker room. A female swim coach confronted the man sprawled out in a sauna exposing himself. She ordered him to leave and called police.
The coach later apologized when she discovered the man was transgendered but explained there were girls using the facility as young as six years old who weren’t used to seeing male genitals.
“They’re uncomfortable with him being in there, her, being in there and are shocked by it,” parent Kristi Holterman told KIRO-TV.
According to the police report, the local district attorney probably will not pursue charges because he said the “criminal law is very vague in this area.”
Francis told KIRO-TV that he was born a man but chose to live as a woman in 2009. Francis said he felt discriminated against after he was told told leave.
“This is not 1959 Alabama,” Francis told the television station. “We don’t call police for drinking from the wrong water fountain.”
Hacker and local parents are outraged over the college’s response to the incident.
“The idea that the college and the local district attorney will not act to protect young girls is appalling,” he said. “What Americans are seeing here is the poisoned fruit of so-called ‘non-discrimination’ laws and policies.”
Placing this man’s proclivities ahead of protecting little girls is beyond unacceptable, Hacker said.
A spokesman for the college did not return calls seeking comment.
Hacker said the college could be held liable for damages if any of the young girls is harmed by the transgendered individual.
“Clearly, allowing a person who is biologically a man to undress and expose himself to young girls places those girls at risk for emotional distress and harm,” he wrote in a letter to the college. “Any reasonable person would view this as dangerous to the young girls involved. The fact that this individual was sitting in plain view of young girls changing into their swimsuits puts you and Evergreen on notice of possible future harm.”

Now this is NOT about the rights of this "man" at all. This is about the effect it will have on minors. These young girls do not need to be exposed to any person whatever their sinful and brain washed mind wants to say they are. The college is at fault for not standing up for the rights of these young girls. We as a nation just went through a case involving sexual misconduct and mistreatment of youth. Why in the world do we choose to be brain dead and assume this will have no affect on someones standards or morals. May God have mercy, I for one am saying this is wrong, it's WRONG. The school should be held liable for this 'criminal law that is not clear'. Use your common sense, have we as a nation become so perverted, that we need to be schooled on 'MORALS 101'?
If he wants to utilize the women's locker room, than he needs to get a sex change operation. Until then he is medically/physically male. By allowing this to happen, they are also allowing current or future sex offenders a possible method to be in a woman's locker room without any repercussions.
I'm all for equal rights. But these places are separated by gender because of the the…well differences between the two. It's not about how you "feel". It's about what you're equipped with. I certainly would not feel comfortable with a man in the ladies room. And I sure wouldn't want one walking around my daughter like that. Now, bathrooms I don't mind so much. They go in a stall and nobody sees. But come one. Walking around naked in a locker room is a completely different situation. It's indecent exposure in any other situation.

No nude adult should be hanging around children, period. This is where this person crossed the line. This person knew that there were children present and chose to get nude around them. This persons correct, responsible, adult choice would have been to find a private stall and change there, wearing a towel in the sauna. This person exposed their body to minors. That, my friend, is against the law and completely unacceptable. I don't care who you are or what your affiliation, adults should not be getting nude around minors. If you think that they should be, you are dead wrong.

This makes me think of the legal carry debate. More people call the cops when they see someone carrying a gun in public spaces. The bill of rights clearly states Americans have the right to bear arms, but people live in a paradigm of fear towards guns. This debate makes me think people live in a paradigm of fear when it comes to genitals, too, though there is no law protecting the right to have genitals. I don't get why having or displaying a penis/vagina makes you more dangerous than a person openly carrying a firearm. This society is very illogical IMO.

Decency, morals and common sense are all perception-based. In some countries this is considered perfectly normal. In yours it's clearly immoral and 'evil.' I have no idea if 'transgender' makes someone mentally retarded, but I have experience with mentally retarded people, and they are people too. Does being mentally retarded make you evil? Biology would say humans are animals as well and that no other animal has bothered to 'wear clothes' like humans have, and science would say that based on the resources humans invest in this invention of clothing that it would be illogical to bother with in the summer time or while bathing/hanging out in the sauna. Biology also says that there are animals that will have homosexual relations, so why is that so different for humans (who are a animals as well) to have homosexual relations? Anti-discrimination laws are a bit silly, I agree with you on that. When you force someone to accept someone they don't like to rent their property, that is definitely not a good situation for either person. Then again, that kind of law is a federal mandate of what is to be considered 'decent,' so you get into the murky waters of perception again. Perhaps the government should just stay out of peoples' lives. But then you get a situation where a 'mentally ill' person walks around nude in front of little girls. Restrooms should not be labelled MEN or WOMEN. They should be labelled PENIS and VAGINA, and the actual, physical genitalia should determine which restroom is used, because it's hardware dependent. People without penises do not use urinals (at least not very well). This eliminates any concern over gender status.

So here is what I have to say. You will probably resort to calling me an "idiot," "moron," "nut job," "lunatic," etc. but that's just fine. Ranger Bagel is a friend of mine, and yes, I go to UC Berkeley as well. She's done a good job of saying what needs to be said on sex and gender, but I'd like to add a few things here:
a. Stop using "the majority of Americans think this, so it must be true" as the basis for any argument at all. Lots of Ancient Romans thought it was fun to crucify people. Lots of Germans thought the Holocaust was a virtuous endeavor. Lots of South Africans though Apartheid was a great idea. "Majority" means nothing.
b. I saw a few references to lynching in there. Really? Good idea. Bring up a topic that is incredibly sensitive to the entire nation, considering our wonderfully honorable history of justice through lynching.
c. Here's a thought no one has mentioned yet: How about we just stop bringing our 6 year-old children into locker rooms? For a young kid, seeing a woman's naked body can be just as traumatizing as seeing a man's. For those of you who think that this is a parenting issue, you should know better than to take your child into an adult locker room in the first place.
d. Any insults to UC Berkeley that I see (and I have seen several) are ignorant. Say what you want about politics, but leave the university alone. It is the #1 public university in the country. I won't even get into the things that our faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students achieve every day here. Our researchers are responsible for six of the elements on the Periodic Table of the Elements. So to all of you telling her that her "father should ask for his tuition money back" (incredibly offensive, by the way), do your research. Stop basing your opinions on outdated stereotypes from the 1960s and 1970s. They teach the same gender binary theory here as they do in most other top US universities that you wouldn't even think to criticize.

If this person is transgendered, I would assume they would want to be seen as female. Why then would you be lying around naked with a shlong hanging out. Why is it everone else's problem. Have some respect for yourself and others. I see a person with an agenda.

If "he" is indeed transgendered, then what would you have him do then? Go in the men's locker room and be beaten up? I personally think she should have been more discreet about it, but who knows? We weren't there. He could be a pervert who enjoys CD and exhibitionism. Or she could have been a genuine transgendered person who just wanted to change her clothes. Colleen Francis is a selfish prick. "She" took advantage of a law that was put there to protect "her" individual rights and used it to spit all over others idea of common courtesy. "She" also opened a door for child predators and molesters for more opportunities. "She" claims "she" is being discriminated against yet "she" shows no concern at all for others. "She" could have easily talked to the staff at the college about "her" problem and get a solution that would have been best for all, but instead "she" puts the feelings of children into the trash! Most young girls are a bit shy about changing even in front of other females, but to be almost naked and suddenly realizing there is a fully grown man there can be mentally damaging. Colleen Francis is only thinking of "her" self and trying to compare this situation to a raciest issue from years ago just proves how self minded "she" is. The two have nothing in common at all!
If anyone is or knows a transgender, please let us know one thing: Do they support her actions or are they ashamed by the level of stupidity Colleen Francis showed to address this issue?

I can't believe a blog as major as Fox and a contributor as well known as Todd Starnes is calling this guy "transgender." From what the piece says, the person was born male and is still anatomically male, but only dresses and acts as a female. That it a transvestite, not a transgender. A transgender person is someone who was born one gender and had surgery to change their gender. This is a transvestite and he should never be allowed into the locker with women. FTR the same should go for a true transgender peron.
