Christians around the nation are threatening to boycott the advertisers of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart unless the Comedy Central host apologizes for desecrating the Nativity during Monday night’s show.
Stewart showed a graphic image of the Nativity in front of a naked woman’s vagina to mock Fox News for allegedly ignoring the “war on women.”
“Maybe women could protect their reproductive organs from unwanted medical intrusions with vagina mangers,” Stewart said.

The controversy was first reported by the Media Research Center — who said Stewart had gratuitously offended millions of Christians, “not to mention non-religious folks with any shred of common decency.”
“It’s astonishing how the Christian faith is under attack in a way that has never happened in the entire history of our nation,” said Dan Gainor, the MRC’s vice president for business and culture. “Now we’re watching anyone who is a person of faith getting abused.”
A spokesperson for Comedy Central did not return calls seeking comment.
Bill Donohue, the president of the Catholic League demanded a swift apology from Stewart – or else he would call for a national boycott.
“He just offended about 85 percent of the American population,” Donohue told Fox News. “What Jon Stewart did will go down in history as one of the most vile attacks on Christianity.”
“This unprecedented vulgar assault on Christians cannot stand,” he said. “If Jon Stewart doesn’t apologize, we will mount a boycott of his show’s advertisers. And we will enlist our allies in the Protestant, Jewish, Mormon and Muslim communities.”
Robert Jeffress, the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Dallas, told Fox News that Stewart actually validated the very idea that he was protesting.
“There really is a war on Christianity,” Jeffress said. “I doubt that he would ever use a sacred image from Islam in such a fashion. But he somehow feels absolutely free to desecrate a symbol that is very sacred to many Christians around the world.”
The fact that Stewart has not gone after Muslims is striking, said Donohue.
“They’re not going to touch the Muslims and that’s out of fear,” he said.
Jeffress agreed that Christians should protest.
“Jon Stewart is actually part of an elite media group that is singling out Christianity for abuse and humiliation,” he said. “The good news is that what he did isn’t going to set the Christian faith back in any sense at all.”

You are one sick dude.
Robert Strause, I see from your facebook page that you are an advocate of the English Defence League, and you call me sick?
Perhaps a Muslim eating
pork, is also acceptable by
the media!
This was a very serious piece of satire which remember uses humor to make a point. The fact that Todd has a story about it as well as getting these people up in arms, proves that Jon Stewart succeeded. I am concerned though that Robert Jeffress and Bill Donohue missed the point completely. It was not anti-Christian but having a go at Fox's hypocrisy. Tonight Fox will probably announce a "War on Stewart" which just adds credence to Stewart's argument. If you complain over this then Stewart's point is valid and he has won the argument. Think about it.
hmmm. Will Faux News (oops, meant Fox News – sorry) start a "War on Satire"??
Glen McLean I doubt if they really understand what satire is. Chris Wallace said he didn't find South Park funny at all. While not every episode is hilarious, there is some good satire in the show as the last episode showed. What are these people going to do now? Kwy?
Fox News reports what conservative people want them to report and plenty of Christians are disgusted by Stewart's satire (work intended to ridicule vice or folly). Stewart is also fortunate in that he has no need to fear the AVERAGE Christian since we are supposed to be loving and non-combative. This is not so with certain other religious cultures. Someday, he'll realize what he's done and will regret it. Oh, and Steve, South Park's "satire" mocks everybody and everything so we certainly don't feel singled out there.
Cindy Baker, No bones about it: Secularism keeps you in your place, not Christianity. The last time you were in charge people like me lost our lives terribly and painfully.
Growing up in the south, I learned quite a bit (as Cindy states) from "…the AVERAGE Christian since we are supposed to be loving and non-combative."
True – there are many good Christians out there, but unfortunately also many that want to make sure EVERYONE else has a "clean house" without cleaning their own house first. hmmm.
(@Cindy – if you would like me to translate what I just said, please let me know).
Tim Gale you are one warped dude.
omg lol fox how do you guys take yourselves seriously.
stop this madness, catholics call the church Holy Mother the Church so people in effect these creatures are talking about your mothers. just saying think about that.
Bring it on! If there's one thing Christians do not fear, it's words. We are no better than Stewart, however our faith in God will deliver us from evil.
Just another reason to tune out low lives sons of bitches like Stewart and Maher who make attacking faith and republican women their bread and butter, otherwise they are nothing, they are lower than excrement that a fly would never crawl all over in joy. One reason they go after people of faith is that they don't have to worry about losing their heads. I'd like to see these so called comedians grow some balls and go after Islam for a change.
Donohue is lying to himself! or just delusional. “He just offended about 85 percent of the American population". If that was truly the case, we wouldn't be hearing about this from Todd Starnes, it'd be all over the media like the Rush/Fluke controversy last month.
You are delusional too Todd Starnes. Todd Starnes, don't you understand satire? You offend people everyday but you still have the right to freedom of speech. So does everyone else. Yes even Jon Stewart. Don't like it, don't watch it.
LOL! "Christians threaten to boycott Jon Stewart" What, all three of the Christians who happen to watch the show? I doubt Comedy Central, The Daily Show or Jon Stewart are even remotely worried.
Desecretation of the Nativity scene is NOT SATIRE or COMEDY. It is mocking Christ & Christians. Stewart is obviously not Christian. He's not a comedian either. He and Laurer are equally disgusting and really like to ridicule women. This was an attempt to do that and attack Christianity. These guys act like 14 yr olds and are NOT FUNNY. Fire them!
a manger is where a life was born.. how is this not descriptive of a pregnant mother?
How can I stand for Israel, when I know that the Israelis make fun of my christian faith all the time. Just look at the way Jon Leibowitz – aka Jon Stewart, makes fun of my religion on TV. What we are, stupid?
I hope Jon Leibowitz will remember, that a Christian man don't need him around anyhow.
Sweet Jesus, my Savior, you are my faithful friend.
Sweet Jesus, my shepherd, you lead me, I'll follow til the end.

Frankly, Jon Leibowitz's jokes about christianity are nothing different than an Arab arab call us infidele.
