A Virginia lawmaker is calling on the Air Force to reverse a decision to remove a Latin reference to “God” from a logo after an atheist group complained.

Rep. Randy Forbes, (R-VA), said the Air Force removed the logo several weeks ago from the Rapid Capabilities Office. The patch included a line written in Latin that read, “Doing God’s Work with Other People’s Money.”
But after the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers complained, Forbes said the line was rewritten in Latin to read, “Doing Miracles with Other People’s Money.”

Forbes, along with a bi-partisan group of 35 lawmakers, sent a letter to Air Force Secretary Michael Donley and Air Force Chief of Staff Norton Schwartz expressing concern over the decision to remove a non-religious reference to God.
“It is most egregious,” Forbes told Fox News. “The Air Force is taking the tone that you can’t even use the word ‘God.’”
Forbes said his office contacted the Air Force and officials there confirmed that the logo had been changed after the atheist group complained.
A spokesman for the Air Force told Fox News they had received the letter and would investigate the claims.
Forbes said the removal of “God” is a “bridge too far in terms of the rights of men and women who serve in our services and their ability to express their faith.”
“But the significance of this is what the Air Force is saying with this move – that the word ‘God’ – whether it has any reference to faith or not, can’t be used in the Air Force,” Forbes said.
He said the incident is one of several in recent months that have caused him to wonder if the military is cleansing itself of religious references.
“It’s a very dangerous course to take,” he said.
“I am concerned that the RCO capitulated to pressure from an outside group that consistently seeks to remove references to God and faith in our military,” he said. ‘The RCO’s action to modify the logo sets a dangerous precedent that all references to God, regardless of context, must be removed from the military.”

This is good news. I am glad to see that we are coming out of the dark ages and recognizing that while religion may have its time and place, no one religion is any more correct than another. By using the term "God" in anything you are alienating everyone who understands that "God" as written of in the bible is nothing more than something that was created by man. Removing the term "God" is a step in the right direction. Its ok for you to believe in God if you want but it is not ok for you to enforce this belief on others.

Congress has not established a new religion, however the exercise of religion and abridging of free speech is happening. The atheist are imposing their own religious beliefs and denying the vast majority their own. The removal of God is very much a religious position.
It completely blows my mind that we have reached the point in this country that contrasting beliefs and points of view cannot be expressed because someone is offended. This country was not founded on the fear of someone's not agreeing with another's beliefs. This current bombarding of Christian beliefs and principles because it offends someone else's beliefs makes about as much sense as denying the expression of Republican points of view because they offend those of the Democrats.
What has made this the great nation that we have become is not the result of political correctness or the insistance that contrasting expression just might rain on someone else's parade. Should I have a protest rally against atheists or agnostics because they contradict my Christian beliefs. No, absolutely not. They are entitled to their opinions and points of view. If they don't like my religion, or I don't like theirs, so what? Just how, exactly, does the displaying of a cross or the expression of "God" on buildings, t-shirts, etc., offend those who don't accept these concepts?
This current protesting by atheists and the CLU has nothing to do with the attempt to establish a specific religion because it supposedly contradicts the seperation of church and state. This point of view is entirely false. The whole concept of such seperation was the result of governments attempting to control both political and religious practices, with death sentences for those whose beliefs contradicted those of the government.
We are headed in that direction once again when we deny free expression of doctrinal beliefs that clash and contradict each other. In simple English, while you protest Christianity and the foundations of it, go right ahead, but I expect the freedom to express my beliefs as well, especially since this nation was founded on the belief in a Creator.

As a 6 year Army veteran, I am sickened by which the military branches slowly erode "faith" or '"religious" references. Yes, I have been a Born Again Christian for 16 years, BUT this country was founded on freedom of worship. If you choose not to worship God and His Holy Son, that is your RIGHT, as my worship is my RIGHT.
There is no such thing as an Atheist. You just choose not to go to church, read the Bible or pray….but I submit that if your son or daughter is on the operating table clingling to life, you will be saying, "God, please don't let my child die!"
