Vincent Terando at TPM proves that it is absolutely false to say the stimulus isn’t working. In fact, much of it hasn’t even been incorporated yet into the economy.

[According to] date from ProPublica, 35% of the government’s $790 billion original fiscal stimulus program (started in early 2009) is still on the way. ‘Tax cuts remaining’ and ‘stimulus money either unspent or in progress’ total $278 billion dollars.

This $278 billion will likely be delivered by the end of 2010, and it’s a huge sum for just four months. Thus the remainder of 2010 will continue to be supported by stimulus, and investors should take note. 2011 is when the economy will lose its training wheels, though an additional round of economic initiatives currently being debated could push the timeline back even further.

Larry King announced his retirement in June – since his replacement has been a constant source of media speculation. Wednesday, it became official: your hot twoppic of the moment is “America’s Got Talent” judge, Piers Morgan, who will take the reins in 2011.  Not all were pleased: @Michael_OMahony tweets I’m not the biggest Larry King fan, but replacing him with Piers Morgan seems a bit like replacing The Fonz with The Situation.

Pastor Jones says he will burn a pile of Korans on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of 9/11. There is no doubt his event will be widely broadcast in the Muslim world, and there is no doubt those pictures will result in one, or two, or many more Americans soldiers getting killed. Even General David Petraeus says so.

But Pastor Jones has his moment in the spotlight and he won’t let it go. Even as he is warned by America’s top combat general, he won’t back down.

But he should. Otherwise he will have American blood on his hands.

President Obama is in Cleveland today to unveil his new plan to fix the economy and create jobs.  He also defended his decision not to extend the Bush tax cuts for top earners.  Can Obama’s plan work?  Tom takes a deeper look at Obama’s latest stimulus plan.

Olive Branch?

The Imam behind the building of the mosque at Ground Zero Mosque offered an olive branch to his critics in a New York Times op-ed.  While Rauf plans to go ahead with the mosque, he says he will also disclose where the money is coming from and even create a memorial to 9/11.  Did the Imam help his cause?
