No John Edwards and no girlfriend on the stand at the former Senator’s campaign corruption trial. The defense rests its case Wednesday without calling them.

The defense rested its case without calling John Edwards, Rielle Hunter, his mistress or Cate Edwards, the former Senator’s adult daughter. All three were on the witness list going into today’s court sessions.

The judge has now scheduled closing arguments to begin tomorrow morning.

The jury will then deliberate if Edwards’ use of money from donors to hide his affair during his campaign was illegal. Something that could land him in prison for 30 years.

There is reportedly new evidence in the Trayvon Martin case, and it could be a boost for George Zimmerman’s claim of self defense.

FOX News Radio’s Courtney Kealy reports:

Newly released court records show Zimmerman suffered two black eyes, a nose fracture and cuts to the back of his head following his run-in with Trayvon Martin.

Before the shooting on February 26th, Zimmerman called 911 to report Martin was acting suspiciously.

(Zimmerman) “This guy looks like he’s up to no good.”

Martin was unarmed but Zimmerman has argued that the shooting was justified according to Florida’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ law. The prosecution has charged him with second-degree murder.

He is free on $150,000 bail and staying in a undisclosed location, facing a potential life sentence.

A small Catholic university in Ohio is no longer offering health insurance coverage to students. It says the reason is the President’s healthcare reform act.

Franciscian University of Steubenville, Ohio is ending student health insurance rather than be compelled to offer contraception.

(Hernon) “It goes against our deeply held moral and religious beliefs.”

Franciscian Vice President Michael Hernon also says the cost of insurance is on track to double next year, and triple after that.

(Hernon) “The Affordable Healthcare Act is simply unaffordable for our students.”

While Franciscan is dropping student coverage, it will still cover its employees and still operate a health clinic on campus.

A new national plan to treat and help families cope with Alzheimer’s disease.

Announcing the first national Alzheimer’s plan, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says “a lot more needs to be done and it needs to be done right now.”

The White House setting up a clock, ticking towards better treatment for the illness by 2025. While also offering help for those suffering today.

A website will provide families with information about dementia and where they can get help in their own communities. This summer, doctors and other health providers can start getting some free training on how to spot the early signs of Alzheimer’s and the best ways to care for those patients .

The Pentagon is announcing new precautions aimed at protecting the safety of pilots of some Air Force fighter jets, who have found themselves in potentially deadly situations far from combat.

Some F-22 fighter pilots experience oxygen deprivation, an issue that grounded the planes for five months last year. Pentagon spokesman George Little says they can’t figure out what’s causing it, but for now;

(Little) “The Air Force will expedite installation of an automatic backup oxygen system in all F-22 fighters.”

They’re also limiting the fighter’s range.

(Little) “All F-22 flights will remain within the proximity of potential landing locations to enable quick recovery and landing should a pilot encounter unanticipated physiological conditions during flight.”

He says there will be regular progress reports, with another grounding if necessary.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, can cause depression, anxiety and in some, it can lead to alcohol and chemical dependence.  With many that suffer relying on traditional therapy, Army Sergeant Leo Dunson, a soldier diagnosed with the disorder, has been used a different kind of therapy: hip hop.

One-in-six Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder last year, and former soldier Leo Dunson is using music to heal.

(Leo Dunson – “War Crimes”) “That’s a war crime, you send me over there in harms way.  Then after I done what you said, you turn your back on me.”

Diagnosed with PTSD in 2008, he writes and records rap songs to try and resolve painful feelings from war.

Music treatment is becoming a respected alternative for PTSD.

And when Romney clinches, Ron Paul National Campaign Chair Jesse Barton says Paul’s supporters will be looking for their moment in the political sun.

(Barton) “And if our people are treated with respect, if our ideas are embraced and treated seriously, and treated with respect; I think the Republican Party has a very good chance to pick up a substantial number of their votes.

But should the opposite happen:

(Barton) “A lot of people are gonna stay home.  A lot of people are gonna sit on their hands.”

Barton says it is not likely that Ron Paul will formally endorse Mitt Romney, and they’ve not talked about whether Paul will deliver a convention speech.

O.J. Simpson is serving 9-to-33 years for kidnapping and armed robbery, but a new attorney is trying to get the former football star released from a Nevada state prison, where he’s been since 2007.

A 94-page document claims Simpson was so badly represented during his trial and previous appeals that he deserves another shot to his prove his innocence.

In the meantime, corrections officials say Simpson is a model inmate, does his job and stays out of trouble.
