The President did his best this morning to spin the disappointing jobs report, but its clear Obama’s policies just haven’t helped unemployment and the economy.  Tom points out some of the President’s convenient omissions and inaccuracies.  Now some are calling for another stimulus.  Tom explains why Obama’s new ideas to fix the economy just won’t work.

Unions Unnecessary?

On this Labor Day weekend, Tom wonders if union members realize who is running their labor groups.  AFL-CIO President and Obama ally Richard Trumka has been caught on tape endorsing a ‘socialist’ global tax.  Would union workers support their leaders if they knew their real agendas?  And with decades of improved labor laws, are unions necessary anymore?

Katrina Five Years Later

Raising a Child

Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal is whining about how she needed a nanny to help raise her daughter.  How hard it is to raise ONE KID?  Couldn’t she or her husband put their career on hold for a while?  Should parents who find it hard to raise one child attempt to have more?  What sacrifices did YOU make to raise your family?  Spencer says it’s no wonder the kids of the Hollywood celebrities often end up in trouble.

 Obama Goes Back to School

President Obama is planning to make his second “back to school” speech to our nation’s students.  Is he trying to encourage kids to do well in school, or is he taking the opportunity to make a political speech to impressionable youth?  Will you have your children listen to his speech?  Plus, many middle-aged women and soccer moms are REALLY into the “Twilight” movies!  Are they enchanted by the story of young love or just ogling the shirtless teenage actors?

Good Credit At A Cost ~ Since the economic crisis, millions of Americans have been paying down their credit card
debt. Unlike our government, it seems many folks now know spending beyond their
means can lead to some very serious problems. However, it’s also bad news for
retailers and or our economic recovery if consumers put their plastic away for
good. Spencer wonders if our economy can survive without credit? Can you?

Enabling Intolerance? ~ General James Conway is saying that most Marines don’t want to share barracks
with openly gay Marines. He says that housing should, at least in the
beginning, involve volunteers who are “OKAY” bunking with open homosexuals. But
should soldiers get a choice of who they want to sleep near? What if they were
also allowed to have bunking preferences based on race or faith… would we
tolerate that?

Adult Only Airlines!? ~ According to a recent poll, 60% of fliers want airlines to offer a “Kids Free
Section” on planes. Sure, we’ve all had to cope with crying babies, but Spencer
doesn’t understand why people with kids should feel like second class citizens!

paying extra? And would you pay extra for a seat in a kids free zone?

Ground Zero Mosque

More troubling information is coming to light about the controversial “Ground Zero Mosque”.  It’s backer, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, has made anti-American remarks, which raises serious questions about the true intentions behind the building of the mosque.  But at this point, can anything really be done to stop construction?

Why hasn’t St. Nicholas, the Greek Orthodox church destroyed on 9/11, been rebuilt yet?  The Port Authority would love to pay off the church and have them build somewhere else, but doesn’t the church have a right to the land it used to own?  Is this about money or a religious double standard?  PLUS: Why aren’t more rich people giving to charity?

Too Dependent?

Why are so many twenty-somethings still living at home with their parents?  Are they reluctant to get out into the world and make their own way?  We expect the next generation to step up to the plate, but Scott wonders how many parents are becoming dependent on their adult children to help pay the bills.  During these tough economic times, are young adults too dependent on their parents, or the other way around?

Several rallies were held at Ground Zero last weekend to protest the proposed mosque, but the wife of the developer is calling opposition to the building sheer Islamaphobia.  Are Americans really that intolerant?  Or is it truly just the proposed location that is upsetting people?

Last week a poll found that 1 in 5 Americans believe the President is a Muslim.  Why do so many people doubt Obama’s assertion that he’s a Christian?  Does the President need to wear his religion on his sleeve? 

 The Charitable Divide

For years studies have shown that the poor are actually more generous than the wealthy.  The poor may give away less actual dollars, but they donate a higher percentage of their income to charity than do the rich.   Are the wealthy just plain greedy?
