We’re entering holiday season, but that doesn’t mean you should take a holiday from your job-search.

FOX News Radio’s Hank Weinbloom with our weekly feature “Hired!”:

Getting you Hired… around the holidays.

You know, a lot of people think companies don’t do much hiring between Thanksgiving and New Year’s– but that’s not always true. You know that retailers are hiring, but other companies are too and the competition may be less, because of many job-seekers take a holiday break.

Career counselors advise, you don’t have to spend all your holiday time in job-search mode, but stay connected. A company with a year-end hiring need may suddenly reach out. You don’t want to be the person who misses out because you’re not available for an interview.

As you go through December, send Christmas cards to anyone who’s helped you in your job search. Saying thank you is a good way to remind folks that you’re still out there looking. Oh, and a real card is better than an e-card.

And Christmas parties can be great networking opportunities. You never know who might know someone who knows someone who’s looking. You may want to go easy on the eggnog though.
