The governor of Texas responds to an NFL warning about the state’s proposed bathroom bill.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig reports:

The NFL should stick to football, according to Texas governor Greg Abbott, who says the league is, “walking on thin ice after they warned they would take the state’s proposed bathroom bill into consideration when awarding future Super Bowl sites.”

Tom Noonan, CEO of the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, thinks the governor should pay attention, though:

(Noonan) “I don’t want to see 185,000 of my fellow Texans out of work. I don’t want to see our state lose $8.5 million.”

The bill requires people to use bathrooms that correspond to the gender on their birth certificate…

Nicole Hudgens, policy analyst at Texas Values, calls it a common-sense public safety measure:

(Hudgens) “What’s sad is that they’re coming out and saying that we’re okay with men being in the same bathrooms and private areas with young girls.”

Super Bowls through 20-21 have been awarded and none of them are in Texas.
