Music Mogul Jay Z Takes a Stand on the War on Drugs

A music mogul is calling out the war on drugs.

FOX’s Michelle Pollino reports:

In a short film he wrote and narrated, Jay Z says the war on drugs started by President Richard Nixon carried through by President Ronald Regan is an “epic fail.” The clip posted online by the New York Times, Jay Z’s narration over an artist’s illustrations and his narration:

(Jay Z) “No one wanted to talk about Reaganomics and the ending of social safety nets, with the funding of schools and a loss of jobs in cities across America.”

He also says African-Americans can make up around 13 percent of the United States population, yet they make up 31 percent of those arrested for drug law violations, even though they use and sell drugs at the same rate as whites.

Jay Z has frequently rapped about his past as a crack dealer.
