Miranda Lambert to Receive Merle Haggard Spirit Award

Miranda Lambert is receiving the inaugural Merle Haggard spirit award, while Sturgill Simpson posts his disappoint with the award.

Miranda Lambert will be celebrated at the ACM Honors tonight in Nashville with the first-ever Merle Haggard Spirit Award. The award recognizes uncompromising artists in the spirit of the late singer, Lambert has often credited Haggard with being a huge influence on her musical career.

Meanwhile, Sturgill Simpson posted on Facebook that he finds the new spirit award utterly disgusting writing, “if the ACM wants to actually celebrate the legacy and music of Merle Haggard, start dedicating their programs to more actual country music.” Simpson citing Haggard often contentious battles with country music peeps in Nashville.

Justin Moore is taking care of the women in the audience at a recent concert, the country star addressed a man who threw something at a women near him at his concert in Chicago…

The fan was removed from the show at and the concert continued without incident.
