Volkswagen Takes a Big Hit in Emissions Scandal

A record settlement, in Volkswagen’s pollution case.

FOX’s Jeff Monosso has the details:

Volkswagen has settled part of its emissions test cheating scandal, paying almost $15 billion toward fines, buying back or fixing the half million two-liter cheating diesels and for owner compensation, though three-liter cheating diesels and the criminal case against VW have yet to be dealt with:

(McCarthy) “It should send a very clear message that when you break the laws designed to protect public health in this country, there are serious consequences.”

That’s EPA administrator Gina McCarthy. The settlement also doesn’t deal with the nine million tainted VW made vehicles in Europe.
