Olympic Torch Makes First Ever Stop at United Nations Office in Switzerland

A historic pit stop for the Olympic torch on its way to Brazil.

The Olympic torch making a stop at a place as global as the games themselves, the United Nations. It’s the first time the Olympic flame has gone through the U.N. offices in Geneva, Switzerland:

(Bach) “The Olympic Games are offering a great opportunity to unite the Brazilians and to show that they all can be proud to be Brazilians welcoming the world.”

I.O.C. president Thomas Bach… For the first time, August’s games will feature a team of refugees that play under the Olympic flag, instead of the flag of a country.
