Kevin Harvick Wins At Dover

NASCAR’s “Race to the Chase” gets its third contender, but one former champ is out of the competition.

FOX News Radio’s Rich Denison reports:

Kevin Harvick takes the checkered flag at Dover International Speedway on Sunday, becoming the third to earn a berth in the 12 driver Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.

Harvick led the pack for 354 laps.

(Harvick ) “I have a group of people that believe in each other, I have a group of people that are experienced… and for me is — I’ve been to get in these race cars… I don’t worry about how they’re going to run when I show up at the race track. I know they’re going to run fast.”

Six-time champ Jimmie Johnson was eliminated from the Chase, after a torn rear axle seal kept him off the track for 36 laps.

Four more drivers will be eliminated from the championship battle in the next three races, starting with next weekend’s race at Chartlotte Motor Speedway.
