Doug Hughes was a man on a mission when he landed a gyrocopter on U.S. Capitol grounds.

FOX News Radio’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington.

The Florida mailman — upset over campaign finance laws — was quickly arrested by U.S. Capitol Police.

Friends who knew what he was planning to do told the “Tampa Bay Times” they were worried he’d get shot out of the sky. Doug Hughes says he was determined to deliver letters to all 535 members of Congress.

(Hughes) ”I’d rather die in the flight than live to be 80-years-old and see this country fall.”

Now, there are questions over how Hughes was allowed to complete his mission, since the Secret Service had been warned about the stunt. It was over very restricted airspace.
