Jodi Arias avoided the death penalty but she’s received the maximum sentence allowed, life in prison without the possibility of parole.

FOX News Radio’s Jessica Rosenthal reports:

After court Jodi Arias’s attorney Jennifer Wilmott said they’re not surprised by the sentence. Life without the possibility of parole.

(Wilmott) ”I think it’s really unfortunate that we could’ve had this 6 years ago. And, we didn’t have it 6 years ago. Nobody was willing to offer it.”

Since then, two juries hung on whether Arias should get the death penalty, so her sentence is the maximum allowed.

Arias told the judge before sentencing that as she stabbed Alexander, he was conscious, that he was trying to attack her and she had to get away. His family members said Arias has shown zero remorse, and lied about who Alexander was.
