A strange case out of Southern California is solved, and it turns out it’s not as creepy as first thought.

FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso reports:

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department says someone was leaving porcelain dolls on the doorsteps recently of eight homes in San Clemente. The dolls wearing nightgowns and lace dresses and resembled the little girls living in those homes. A little creepy says some neighbors.

(Neighbor) “I’ve got two six-year-old daughters at home so it was a little nerve-wracking. Especially if it matched my child and who’s watching me?”

The dolls set off an investigation. But now the Sheriff’s Department says it found the person responsible, another neighbor, who they say was cleaning out her closet and getting rid of the dolls by giving them as gifts. That the unidentified woman’s intent was nothing more than goodwill. Case closed.
