Britain’s Prime Minister faces a backlash for saying that country is a Christian country.

FOX News Radio’s Simon Owen reports from London:

British Prime Minister David Cameron writing an Easter message in a newspaper, saying Britain is a Christian country and should be more confident about it. But his comments have received a stinging response.

French: “I think we’re a pluralist nation and we should be proud of that and we should celebrate it.”

Psychology professor Chris French is one of 55 academics, scientists and writers who’ve signed an open letter accusing Cameron of sowing sectarianism and division.

French: “We’re a country that consists of people of many different faiths and also of no faith whatsoever.”

Surveys show Christianity is England’s largest religion– but with numbers falling. The Prime Minister has previously played down his religious faith.
