A Utah lawmaker is proposing a bill that would prevent transgender students from using bathroom facilities of their choice.

FOX News Radio’s Don Mathisen has the details:

State Representative Michael Kennedy says his legislation would block Utah from allowing transgender students from choosing between the girls’ or boys’ restrooms, locker rooms and sports teams based on the gender they identify with.

He says he wants to protect the privacy of most students and prevent false gender identity claims. Instead, Kennedy wants schools to provide additional facilities for transgender students who request them.

Critics say the measure violates civil liberties of transgender students and points them out as different.
