An al-Qaeda plot to attack the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv has been caught by Israel’s intelligence agency.

Fox News Radio’s Emily Wither has this update from Jerusalem:

Three Palestinians have been arrested for plotting to carrying out attacks on two targets here in Israel– the big conference center in Jerusalem and the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv. The men were recruited by an al-Qaeda operative in Gaza – with direct links to the groups leader Ayman al-Zawahri. Senior researcher for the Institute for National Security Studies Yoram Schweitzer says what’s interesting is the plot had connections to Syria:

“They were operating and tried to recruit in addition to the local people, also people from Syria that belonged to al-Qaeda. And all of them intended to operate in Israel.”

Israel’s security agency also saying five men were planning to fly to here with fake Russian passports to help.
