BRIAN’S QUOTE OF THE DAY

I guess on some level, he thought the problems would be over by the time America was focusing on this long awaited Obamacare, October 1st was the date, but it’s been a flat out disaster.  And it makes you wonder who is responsible.  I am not one of those guys who thinks someone should be fired, I actually think that is an easy way out.  If you are working on a project and you don’t like the result the easy way out is to get fired.  I mean you have to bring someone into help and then at least have him or her tell you where the bodies are buried and where they went wrong….I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am, at how many people are pointing fingers at somebody else.  It’s nobody’s responsibility, it’s nobody’s fault, it is certainly not the President’s fault.  And guess what?  When the President came out and said how excited people were going to be to get healthcare and how it would be like signing up for anything from Amazon or ordering something from Kayak, he was not clued into the problems that were awaiting him.  This according to Kathleen Sebelius in a very interesting interview.

HOUR 1

Former Congressman, COL. ALLEN WEST, sounded off on Rep. Alan Grayson’s (D-FL) inflammatory re-election campaign email which compared the tea party to the Klu Klux Klan.  The email contained a picture of a burning cross to create the “T” in Tea Party and said, “Now You Know What the “T” Stands For.“  West wondered where the outrage was from President Obama, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Oprah, etc.

JEFF GREENFIELD, 5-time Emmy Award winning political analyst, and author of ‘If Kennedy Lived: The First and Second Terms of President John F. Kennedy: An Alternate History’  sat down with Brian to discuss his second book of alternate history. Greenfield opened the possibility of a world in which JFK lived to guide this country through two terms.  Greenfield deemed him to be a cautious president, especially after the Bay of Pigs. As a result, Jeff says, “I do not think there would have been a Vietnam War.”  He also said had JFK not been killed, Lyndon Johnson would most likely have been forced out of office in 1964 because of pending investigations into his finances.  He also explored the idea of his health and personal life becoming more exposed and rejected by the American public.

Jack discussing the dangers, said, “Well, number one is I am old and I can die,  I’m 68 and not in the best shape….the jungle took a lot of sap out of me.” The two also discussed how they began this journey in life and how it turned into the highest rated show the on Discovery Channel.

HOUR 2

Brian had a FULL one hour in-studio interview with THE GREAT DR. CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER! The Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist, political commentator and physician was in town to promote his new book Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics.  Brian delved into the mind of Krauthammer, discussing everything from today’s political landscape to his personal journey from psychiatrist to writer.

On his career development, Krauthammer said, It has been one serendipitous event after another, each of which came out of the blue, and without which I wouldn’t have ended up where I am…which gives me respect for the fact that we have far less control over our destiny than I could have imagined.”

Krauthammer also discussed how he was able to present his father with his Pulitzer Prize right before his death, saying it was nice to reassure him of his career change.

Krauthammer also discussed his experience of becoming paralyzed from a diving incident in medical school.  Noting that he does NOT like talking about himself or his injury, he did reveal how his Dean and professors came to the hospital to keep him up to date on the lectures and tests because he did not want a leave of absence, he wanted to stay with his class. “I didn’t want to get off the horse because I knew I would not get back on again.” In fact, he made himself a vow in the very first week of the injury, saying he would NOT allow the accident to change the trajectory of his life.  Of course, day to day, it’s more difficult but the trajectory he wanted to be the same and in the end the trajectory was not changed.  Having never wanted his life to be defined by that moment he said,  “Everybody has their cross to bare Brian, everybody… it’s only a question of whether you can see it or not, and the only question is whether in the end, you can live your life the best you can.”
