BRIAN'S QUOTE OF THE DAY
On the Tea Party not liking Speaker Boehner's plan...
Now you tell me, is the Senate going to give republicans a better deal or worse deal? It's a worse deal! And will the House have to deal with a worse deal or better deal? A worse deal! Do they have a sense of strategy within them? Have you heard about a boxer who has to take a few blows in order to win late with a knock out? That's called a strategy! Have you heard about a baseball team that tries to win a 7-game series by pitching people at certain times and certain ways in certain games? That's called a strategy! It doesn't matter how much talent you have. What is your strategy to win?
Former Congressman, COL. ALLEN WEST, joined Brian for his weekly Wednesday hit and weighed in on the government shutdown and the debt ceiling. Col. West said our current political situation is EVERYONE'S COLLECTIVE FAULT because there is no vision coming from President Obama and the House and Senate are also to blame. If Obamacare is the law of the land then the law should apply to everyone and not contain carve outs.
Brian sat down with TAYA KYLE, widow of Navy Seal Chris Kyle, the Top American Sniper, who was shot and killed at a shooting range by a fellow veteran back in February. She reflected back on her life and time with Chris and the legacy he leaves behind. She also expressed her feelings on his tragic death. "To be gunned down trying to help someone, that is the harder thing for me to swallow...having said that, I've never doubted that there are evil people in this world." She also addressed the exhaustion she is facing from former Gov. Jesse Ventura, who is continuing to sue Chris Kyle, even after his death.
A special memorial edition of Chris' book, AMERICAN SNIPER, has just been released.
CALLISTA GINGRICH, wife of former Speaker Newt Gingrich and author of a new children's' book Yankee Doodle Dandy, swung by the studio and explained why she wants to help teach kids American history through her book's main character, Ellis the Elephant!
MIKE EMANUEL, Fox's Chief Congressional Correspondent whose been putting in long hours, shared what he's been experiencing on Capitol Hill. "A lot of people believe Sen. Ted Cruz set unrealistic expectations so that whatever deal comes out of this mess is not going to look good because it's not going to defund or delay Obamacare." Mike, who spent a lot of time in the briefing room with Robert Gibbs, weighed in on Gibbs' recent harsh criticism on the rollout of Obamacare, saying, "For Gibbs to rip it, speaks volumes because Bob Gibbs was as loyal as the day is long to Barack Obama, so if he's humiliated by this, then that tells you all you need to know."
Brian also sought the opinion of GOP strategist and former RNC Chairman ED GILLESPIE. "When the debt ceiling and the Continuing Resolution and the government shutdown all got merged, I think our hand weakened in that regard frankly, but it's a long game and Obamacare will not get more appealing to the American people, and once everyone sees the negative impact, I think we'll get an opportunity in the political process to get it repealed."
He also listed 3 states in which he would have done things a little differently during Mitt Romney's presidential campaign: Florida, saying he would have like to have done more to reach the Hispanic vote, Ohio - could have done more to reach the blue collar workers and Virginia - he would have like to have done more to counter the attacks against Romney's positions with regards to women's issues.
In between their three hours of TV together on FNC (Martha filled in for Alisyn Camerota @ 1 ET) BILL HEMMER & MARTHA MACCALLUM popped into the radio studio and sounded off on the glitches riddling Obamacare. Bill & Martha think Robert Gibbs went off on its implementation out of frustration since he helped build the current administration!
