Thousands of Drivers Could Have Counterfeit Air Bags

If air bags have been replaced in your car within the past few years, there’s a chance that they could be bad.

FOX News Radio’s Jennifer Keiper reports:

You’ve probably seen the video, a car with a crash test dummy inside slams into a wall and the air bags deploy…

Government safety officials think some 240,000 cars and trucks on the road could have counterfeit air bags so they won’t inflate properly or at all.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has compiled a list of dozens of vehicle makes and models for which counterfeit air bags may have been made, but says that list could grow over time because the full scope of the problem isn’t clear yet.

No deaths or injuries have been tied to counterfeit air bags.
