Ryan Denied Asking For Stimulus Money, Then Admitted Request Bearing His Signature

Paul Ryan, who objected to the Obama stimulus plan, denied in 2010 and again Wednesday that he ever sought stimulus money for Wisconsin projects. He then added, “I don’t recall” to his answer on Wednesday.

Now he’s changed his story again.

Thursday evening, Ryan acknowledged having sent the letters above his signature. “After having these letters called to my attention I checked into them, and they were treated as constituent service requests in the same way matters involving Social Security or Veterans Affairs are handled. This is why I didn’t recall the letters earlier. But they should have been handled differently, and I take responsibility for that.”

He did not explain why he was not alerted to the fact his office had sent a letter asking for stimulus aid from the Department of Labor when the Wall Street Journal reported on this in 2010…

…beginning in the fall of 2009, he sent the first of a series of letters to the Department of Energy on behalf of a pair of Wisconsin energy conservation groups, insisting the funds would help create jobs, the Globe reported on Tuesday.

For example, Ryan predicted that a grant being sought by the Madison-based Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation would “create or retain approximately 7,600 new jobs over the three-year grant period and the subsequent three years.”

So, Ryan denied for years that he ever requested stimulus money, until a national spotlight upon the issue forced him to acknowledge letters with his signature on it.

So? Back when Obama was a Senator he said Bush was unpatriotic for running this country into debt. Look at what Obama has done in just 4 years. Where is our debt now? Is Obama unpatriotic as well? Hypocrisy on the right and surly it's on the Left. Btw, what does Ryan's request for stimulus money have to do with getting people back to work? Nothing, nada, zilch! Why don't you ask Obama what happened to those "shovel ready jobs" his stimulus was supposed to create? Oh yeah, that's right! He laughed about it and said, "Let's face it, those shovel ready jobs weren't as shovel ready as we thought." Geez, do your country a favor and vote his tired behind out. We have No Hope and No Change!

Just watched Alan Combs on Megan Kelly's show. I cannot believe his argument. Everybody uses the roads and schools so because a business is successful we owe the government!!! So if a business fails, they can blame the government? We work our butts off to make our business profitable and we have never borrowed a dime from government back loans, etc. We put our house up to finance our business and we just kept pounding away to make it work. No government, city, state or federal helped us in any way. Matter of fact, they caused us MORE expenses than necessary. They collect our money and do NOTHING to earn it. We earn it. We work for it. We built our business. Alan, it is insulting to me that you think we should be grateful to anyone other than God for anything. Government had nothing to do with our business other than costing us more to run.
