Housecall for Health: Child Seat Safety Not Being Followed
Parents should probably check not just their car seat, but how they put their child in it. That’s the recommendation after a new study finds that misuse of the safety seats is dangerously high.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon has details in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
Audio clip:
Here’s some alarming news for parents: More than half of U.S. children are not sitting safely in cars. A study from the University of Michigan found that just 3% of toddlers sit properly in a car seat, if restrained at all, and just 8% of 8 to 10 year-olds use a booster seat.
Experts say car seat recommendations have gone through a lot of changes since parents were kids, and they need to be aware of new guidelines.
