FOX in the Fast Lane: Coke Zero 400 (Daytona)
The NASCAR Sprint Cup heads back to the beach – Daytona Beach – and the Daytona International Speedway for the Coke Zero 400, where Michael Waltrip will be back behind the wheel and they’ll be honoring “The King,” Richard Petty.
FOX News Radio’s Marghiee “Trackside” Teshineh has this week’s NASCAR preview:
Audio clip:
FOX in the Fast Lane.
Get ready for restrictor plate and tandem racing, as NASCAR makes its second run of the season at Daytona. Brad Keselowski predicts:
(Keselowski) “The same group of guys will probably be fast, and, you know, the same group of guys that were not fast will probably struggle.”
For Greg Biffle:
(Biffle) “Restrictor plate racing is the same as it always has been. It’s a love-hate relationship, you know? It’s a lot of fun at times, a lot of times it’s pretty intense.”
And this year’s Daytona 500 winner, Matt Kenseth, thinks he can win again at this track because:
(Kenseth) “Our cars have been fast, we’ve been able to pass. They get hot when you get back in the pack, but, you know, if we keep them towards the front, we have enough speed, we seem to be okay.”
Owner-driver Michael Waltrip hasn’t won at Daytona in a decade, but is hoping to drive his #55 Toyota to victory this weekend.
And a happy birthday to “The King.” Legendary driver and team owner Richard Petty, turning 75 years old this week.
FOX in the Fast Lane, I’m Marghiee Teshineh, FOX News Radio.

Didn't like tandem racing at first, but after last night's Nationwide, I'm now a fan. It takes a good car, brains, and the sense as how to 'switch'. All this at 200 plus. Last night we saw those who had the 'smarts' to be ahead and stay ahead at the right time. Only thing I loathed was Kurt winning. He's toooo 'insane' to be safe!!!

When are they going to make the cars use stock shapes and take off all the downforce items off the cars and make the drivers really drive? Without the excess downforce, all of the cars will have plenty of horsepower, but will also have a tendency to hit the wall if they use too much.

Don't go to races or watch them. Nascar fines you if you bump someone. Next anything involving money is Fixed. Jim Johnson good example. i'd rather sit home and watch the Simpsons.

One of the main reasons that I look at these articles about NASCAR is to find out what time the race will be broadcast, but they never say. A little frustrating.
Ole eight time

Get rid of those damm PRV's NASCAR. Come on, they are causing mose of the cars in these restrictor plate races to leave on the back of a flat bed truck. Pull your heads out!!

I still would like to see factory sponsered stock cars theway they use to be. Stick in a roll cage, soup up the factory engine and keep the original factory body. Get rid of the restrictions and lets see some good old timey car races.
