NYC Sneaky Sneaker Thieves Develop Two-Part Heist

Crafty thieves have figured out a two-part way to steal sneakers in New York City.

Lebron James, the newly crowned NBA champ in a recent Nike ad. His shoes going for hundreds of dollars; much more then some sneaky thieves in New York City are willing to pay. And they’ve figured out if they steal a left shoe on display in one shop and the right shoe on display from a second shoe store, they’ve got a match.

And stores report losing big.

One shop in Manhattan reports losing about 50 expensive display shoes per year to theft. Why we’re seeing more shoes tied down on display walls, so no one walks off with them.
