Could a common beauty product be dangerous to your health? That is the question being posed after a woman fell ill from using a hair dye.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon has more in today’s “Housecall For Health”:
Audio clip:
Experts are expressing concern over the safety of Loreal hair dye after a woman in England has slipped into a coma after using the product. The 38-year-old woman had been using the product for several years, but after applying it this past October, she was rushed to the hospital saying she couldn’t breathe. She is currently on life support and her doctors say they believe she suffered a severe allergic reaction. Loreal is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Im lucky to be alive after using hair dye, i have lost some vision and am still at risk of going blind due to swollen optic discs, this product needs to be banned and i want to make it happen! mine has been going on nearly 4 months since i applied the hair dye i have scares to my breasts, arms, neck, face ears and head, its not only effected me in a bad way but my family too so god knows how this poor ladys must be feeling my heart goes out to them xxxx
I also received a very bad reaction to dyeing my hair recently ,thankfully, not to the degree that I have read about just now , I have also dyed my hair for years ,useing Loreal , which lead me to investigate further the chemical PPD. My whole head was swollen with welts of oozing painful lumps my glands all came up all arround my head and my eye was swollen .headache and thobbing head. this is a mild reaction compared to the other peolpe who have suffered an way more severe reaction , there is pages and pages of others ,who have also have the same syptoms as myself ,and have even patch tested and still got severe reactions after they actually dyed their hair , too Be honest I will never risk it again , to lose a life over dyeing your hair is one too many , this chemical is banned in allot of countries why are we still useing it , how many more peopel and families have to suffer before this is looked at PPD .it has the potenial to kill a person why risk it ,
