#Twoppics – Heartland: Sugarland State Fair Stage Collapse, Iowa Straw Poll, Desmond Bishop

Twoppics, taking a look at what people on Twitter are saying about the hottest stories out of the Heartland…

Audio clip:

IN: It’s tragedy at a Sugarland concert at the Indiana State Fair.  Five people are dead, more than 40 injured after the rigging over the band’s stage collapses into the crowd… FOX News Radio’s @jeffmonosso.  The Indiana State Fair was closed Sunday, but plans are for it to reopen Monday.  The Twittersphere is truly moved by the accident, such as muscians He Is We

Sugarland incident is tragic. Tell those close to u that u love them. Be compassionate to people around u. We’re all in this together.

My heart and prayers go out to everyone at the Sugarland show tonight at the Indiana state fair. God bless those who left us or are hurt.

Sugarland also tweeted about the incident on Saturday night…

We are all right. We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you’ll join us. They need your strength.

IA: Saturday night in Iowa, voters turned out for the state’s Straw Poll.  Michele Bachmann took first, but a third-place finish was enough for Tim Pawlenty to decide that now’s the time to end his bid for the White House.  FOX News Radio’s Rich Johnson has more… Twitter just can’t take the Iowa Straw Poll seriously, no matter how hard they try.  Examples come from @JPosnanski

No offense, but you can win the Iowa Straw Poll with 4,823 votes? More people in Iowa emailed me about KC Chiefs draft.

I always get confused… What % does the Ames Straw Poll play in BCS rankings?

and actor Drew Carey

So Bachman won the straw poll. I scored a 289 on Wii Bowling. Both are strong indicators of our chances of becoming President.

WI: One of the biggest honors for a pro athlete is the opportunity to meet the President of the United States after winning your sport’s championship.  Even some college champs get the chance.  But it takes a lot to get that invitation…so you don’t want to blow it, right?  Well, Green Bay Packer Desmond Bishop did all the work, but doesn’t get to reap the reward.  After winning the Super Bowl, the Packers finally got their chance to head to DC.  Bishop, though, forgot his ID on the team’s charter.  No ID, no White House.  No White House, no President.  Bishop took to Twitter after the incident, noting he has new motivation for this year…

Just found some extra motivation tweeples. I forgot my id on plane so won’t get access to see @ .. This time! But next year ;)

Desmond Bishop wasn’t allowed in the White House because he didn’t have his drivers license on him? I feel your pain, bud.

It’s probably best that the aura of failure around Obama doesn’t rub off on Desmond Bishop

It's probably not good for a winner like Desmond to be hanging out with a loser. Bad influence.
