At 75, Campbell has suffered from short-term memory loss for years, but says he was diagnosed with the disorder six months ago. He’s releasing a final album this August and planning a multi-city farewell tour. His wife, Kim, says they decided to go public with his condition because they didn’t want people thinking he was drunk on stage if he were to flub lyrics during a show. Campbell has won multiple Grammy and CMA Awards in his nearly 50-year career, thanks to hits like “Rhinestone Cowboy.” He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
