John Boehner has been sworn in as the new Speaker as the GOP takes control of the House. But with looming debates over the debt ceiling, health care and the economy, the Republicans are facing some tough decisions that could hurt their relationship with the Tea Party. How do Republicans walk the tight rope on the debt ceiling and other thorny issues? Plus one blogger is sure Nancy Pelosi is truly insane!
Constitution Reading “Racist”?
The Constitution will be read aloud on the House floor tomorrow by the new Republican majority. This is a big deal for Tea Party supporters who have demanded lawmakers follow the principles of our founding fathers. But critics call the gesture a “gimmick”, and the New York Times even called it “racist”! Is reading the Constitution a big waste of time? Tom weighs in.
Smart or “Gold Diggers”?
A new study found more women are marrying for money today than did in the 1940s. Is it wrong for women to choose men based on their ability to support themselves and a family? Are women who marry for money smart, or just “gold diggers”?

Can the comments on raising the debt ceiling which were made by Sen. Obama on 3/16/08 be posted on this site so that we may share them with others?
I just want an answer to my question about posting the Obama comment or else tell me where i might find it.
Speaking on teaching the constitution in our schools and elsewhere, it's my understanding that Public Law 108-447, Section 111 requires that all federally funded schools and all federal agencies provide materials and education on the constitution. As a federal employee, I received a pocket copy of the Constitution which I promptly read… again.
Tom:
Current deficit is around $1.4 Trillion and to not impact the debt ceiling, one needs a deficit of ZERO. Therefore even going back to 2008 or earlier spending patterns stil has a deficit of $400 billion +_
Lets get real about expectations as geting to zero soon is impossible and an economic disaster.
