A battle over religion is brewing in central Indiana after a public school wanted second graders to sing a song declaring, “Allah is God.” The phrase was removed just before the performance after a national conservative group launched a protest.
The principal of Lantern Road Elementary School in Fishers, IN, said they were trying to teach inclusiveness through their holiday production. It included references to Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Las Posadas and Kwanzaa. However, no other deity, other than Allah, was referenced in the show.
“It went off…without a hitch,” Danielle Thompson told the Indianapolis Star. “Several families thought it was a nice program.”
But others did not – especially David Hogan. His daughter came home with a copy of the lyrics just days before the production. Hogan, a Christian, told the American Family Association, a conservative advocacy group, that he was deeply concerned to learn that his daughter had been singing, “Allah is God.”
Here’s what the children were assigned to sing:
“Allah is God, we recall at dawn,
Praying ‘til night during Ramadan
At this joyful time we pray happiness for you,
Allah be with you all your life through.”
But when it came time to perform the “Christian” part of Christmas, children were assigned to say:
“I didn’t know there was a little boy at the manger. What child is this?
I’m not sure if there was a little boy or not.
Then why did you paint one on your nativity window?
I just thought if there was a little boy, I’d like to know exactly what he (sic) say.
Micah Clark, executive director of the Indiana AFA, launched an Internet protest once he heard about the allegations. “What surprised me here is that we’ve had a secular scrubbing of Christmas for so long and the school apparently didn’t see the problem with kids singing to Allah,” he told FOX News Radio. “You won’t even mention Jesus and you’re going to force my child to sing about Allah?
In email correspondence the school initially defended the reference as a way to be inclusive of all religions. However, once complaints starting rolling in, school leaders decided to eliminate the Allah reference.
That drew the ire of the Muslim Alliance of Indiana. “It’s unfortunate if that was removed from the program just because of Islamophobic feelings,” Shariq Siddiqui told the Indianapolis Star. “Schools are a place where we should learn more about each other rather than exclude each other based on stereotypes and misconceptions.”
But Clark said having children bow and pray is problematic for non-Muslim families. “(This show) affirmed Islam and negated Christianity. I wouldn’t have had a problem if it had been equal to all faiths.”
At least one Christian family approved of the Allah reference. “I’m a Christian and I was in no way offended by the program at Lantern Road,” said Judy Grasso to The Star.

If the Islamics won't fit in and be a PART of OUR culture, which is 90% CHRISTIAN, they can LEAVE.
What gets me is that the Islamics want it all THEIR way: for us to accept and (hopefully) embrace their ideology, without doing the same for other faiths. The very lyrics of this song show just how intolerant they are. Christians need to fight this for all they are worth because the sad fact is that Christianity is one of the few buffers standing between us and Islam.
Judy Grasso isn't much of a Christian to use as any sort of example of it being ok. You can look at commandment number 1 to see the clear answer here. You shall have no other gods before me.
The kids parents should sue the living heck out of the schools for violating there parental rights to teach religion as they see fit to their children and not have the school or government interfering in such matters. They should also go after the teachers involved and principles and anyone who approved the program as an individual in court for abuse of authority I am sure these kids did not feel they had the right to say no. It is time as Christians we put our collective foot down and squash this anti-Christian movement in this country. Most our laws and 80% of the populace is Christian why are we pandering to the few?
I am overwhelmed by this act that is so biased, unfair and manipulative. Apparantely, the education system is dedicated to an act of self destruction.

Please inquire from Shariq Siddiqui of the Muslim Alliance of Indiana how many Christian and/or Jewish schools there are in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, etc., etc., if any.?? THERE AREN´T.
Ask him if in their public schools Christian or Jewish children are allowed to Sing or Pray to their God, or only to Allah?? YOU BETCHA.

Eileen Chicago and Victor, very true what you wrote. Myself, I’ve studied Islam since 9/11, the Qur’an, Hadiths, et cetera. Believe me. Allah isn’t the God of the Christians and Jews. Allah teaches the complete opposite of the Ten Commandments. If you study Muhammad’s life, you’ll discover that this SOB (Son Of the Beast) was a paedophile, child molester, slave owner, wife beater, murderer, whoremonger, polygamist, adulterer and more. Muhammad “married” 21 playmates, and had two other whores as spares. In other words, Muhammad had his own private whorehouse and 23 playmates.
The Qur’an contains 109 violent passages directing authentic Muslims to murder the infidels. I found only one passage in the Qur’an that looked good for a while. Actually, if you read the article closely, what is said is " However, no other deity, other than Allah, was referenced in the show." Since Allah was the only deity name used, then the school district made a reasonable decision in removing that divine reference as well, giving none preference.
Also, the Koran contains extensive writings on Christians, the Jews and the Bible, even retelling some of the same stories. Considering that Mohammed claims to have been of the Line of Abraham, through his son Ishmael, and since the he also taught that the God of Abraham is the one true God, the God he worships, then it is the same as the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the God made flesh in Jesus Christ, though Muhammad denies that.
Look, whether Allah is God or not, whether it's the same God or not, this violates separation of religion and state. Just as prayer in Jesus' name wouldn't be allowed in public school, neither should prayer for Allah. And whoever doesn't like it can scream "Islamophobia" till cows come home.
Whats wrong with teaching reading ,writing and arithmetic in school and leave the other "needs" to The Church and the parents.

Please don't confuse the Christian Christmas with my religious Pagan holiday of Yule. We have NOTHING to do with their holiday. They celebrate the "birth of Christ"- which actually happened between May and September but they put it in December to help "covert all us heathens." We celebrate the coming of Winter. Those are 2 completely different celebrations for 2 very different belief systems. They may have placed Christmas by our holiday in order to stamp out our religion, but it is in no way Pagan because of that. Just felt like pointing that out.

The only question in this debate is how do I and you, my brothers and sisters in the Lord, take our great country back. Spiritual man, if you have a problem with what is going on in the school, why don’t you and your spiritual brothers wrest it from your avowed enemy. He that is not for our way of life is against our way of life. I am proud to be a white Christian male, as were my forefathers who founded this great nation. Tolerance is not the issue. Passing along the foundation blocks of this great nation is the key to having a succesful national life; but even so, we individually should know,as our forefathers knew, that individually we must be established upon the Rock, Jesus, The Messiah ! It is utter ignorance to believe that allah is the same God, Jesus worshiped and Christian worship; No where in quran and any other islamic book this allah is called a Father. In fact, islam condemn those who

The irony of this whole event is that unlike Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, which are all festivals celebrated this time of year, Ramadan is NOT… See More. Even if the school wanted to be "inclusive," including Ramadan in the winter "holiday" celebration is out of place, so clearly this was an appeasement and conciliatory gesture to the Islamic community. Ramadan this year was celebrated from August 22 to Sept 20. Next year it will begin on August 11 and end September 10. It changes each year because Islam runs on a lunar calendar, which falls behind by several days each year over our Gregorian calendar.
So this school is guilty of double jeopardy: they got it wrong by promoting Allah when no other deity is allowed to be spoken of, and they got it wrong again by attempting to include Ramadan as a year-end religious celebration. Shameful!
I am so encouraged to read that there are some Americans on this board who actually have the backbone to stand up for fairness. Maybe America will not accept the Moslems' demands of complete acceptance of their view that Islam must be not only tolerated in the West, but proseltization must be allowed for Islam only. Are we finally waking up to the fact that the more than 100 wars currently being fought throughout the world are all being fought against Moslem insurgents and aggressors? His men started out robbing caravans for years to amass money and power, until they were able to conquer the entire Arab world, and parts of Europe. The Crusades stopped their bloodthirsty quest for domination.

We should start conducting ourselves a little more like Australia. We are a Christian Judeo society. If people from other countries don't want to assimilate into our society they should leave and return to their own religion,culture,country. Not try to change our country to make them more comfortable that is ridiculous. The Christian and Jewish religions are the ones to be celebrated at this time of year. Umm, these teachers and school board you speak of are not supposed to teach ANY religion in a public school. So I dunno why you think they should. If you feel the need to have YOUR children learn about YOUR god… do so at your church, your own home, or at a private religious school. NOT in public school. It's NOT these teachers job to teach religion. And there are other faiths in this country than just Christianity. I would be FURIOUS to know ANY religion was taught to my child in a public school! It's MY job to teach my children about faith.
To get to the essence of a religion one must get to its source. Allah came out of his cave butchering all with his sword if they did not fall in line with him. Today here in America 'Allah' is the name we all know as the Muslim god. Regardless of the real meaning in our culture it is not a Christian name for the Christian God. Sooner or later we will have to come to terms with our basic identity and who we are as a country and what we believe. Sorry folks but for all our faults and we do have many, ultimately we have achieved in our short history the highest levels of freedom, productivity and wealth for our citizens, and that is a direct result of our 'Judeo-Christian' ethic and all that flowed from those foundational ideas.
You Christians never fail to surprise me. "Allah" is the G-d of Abraham. The same G-d revealed to humanity by Moses. This is one of His many Names. I'd rather my child use the name Allah in school, as it is the same G-d we pray to. Your mythical Jesus is not my deity. I could never bow down to a human, nor could I ever adopt the pagan-esque belief that G-d would copulate with a human in order to have an offspring who he would later want to kill.
This endless conversation and offensive dialog been there for thousand of years between religion and it is hard or even never can reach to a conclusion.
