HIS CHICKENS CAME HOME TO ROOST

As the Reverend Jeremiah Wright is prone to say — his chickens came home to roost yesterday. Senator Barack Obama was forced to call a press conference and nuke their 20 year relationship on national television.

It seems, according to the senator, that the Rev. Wright laid an egg at the National Press Club, Monday.

Obama officially distanced himself from his longtime pastor and denounced what he called “divisive and destructive” remarks.

Among the many tidbits considered “divisive and destructive” his claims about the 9-11 terrorist attacks and AIDS.

And of course — there were those infamous sermon clips from the “Best of” series — the ones about the US of KKK and damning America.

So what are we to make of all this?

I believe the Reverend Wright perhaps said it best in his speech to the National Press Club. He repeated an oft-quoted passage from his mother.

“It’s better to be quiet and thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Amen.
